Has anyone disabled the seatbelt alarm?

I wear my seatbelt every time I drive any vehicle, but apparently my AV thinks I don't put it on fast enough and I take it off too soon. Is there a way to disable the seatbelt alarm without disabling anything else? Thanks.

I think the alarm is controlled by the BCM so it is in programming and has input which must be sensors on the seatbelt latch doohickey.....

There is a wire harness that goes to the buckle on the seat. Once you find the wire coming off the inside of the driver's buckle, you should be able to trace the wire harness to the connectors. Unplug the connectors and then jumper across the wire harness terminals with a paper clip or something similar to make the connection. You should wrap the jumpered connector with electrical tape to keep it from shorting out on something under the seat.

I wear mine too, but the reminder got to me.
No delay like the manual says though.

Under the driver's seat, right side, towards the back,
is a green 2-pin connector. That's not it, too easy.
Above it, fairly buried, is another black 2-pin connector.
It helps to put the seat all the way forward and up tall.
Probably need to pull it down to get some slack.
It's not easy to get to, and then you have to unlatch it.
A long skinny screwdriver should help unlock it.
Hard to do, but it is possible. One hand to pull it down and
the other to unlock it, not much room. You don't need to
short it, just unplug it.

Only thing I noticed was if you lock the doors with the
button, there is sometimes a delay, must think you're
still sitting down or something.

I have an '02 and I just unplugged mine. Like IronClad said, the plug is hard to get at. Just follow the seatbelt latch to the bottom and find the wires and plug coming out. Thats them. :B:

The '02's don't have pretensioners, I'm not sure about '03's and newer. It's definitely worth looking at before proceeding.

I've gotten into the habit of fastening the seat belt before I start the engine. No warnings at all!

Have you checked into having it reprogrammed. It seems that there may be a software glitch if it is warning way too soon as you've described. Should be under warrantee.

Hope that doesn't turn off the airbag sensor or pre-tensioner as well.

This is my biggest concern also. I would rather just disable the alarm part, rather than the sensor.

Thanks for the sugestions, I think I might ask my dealer if there is a potential problem before i do it.

I don't think it's a glitch. What happens is I crank the truck and don't usually put the belt on until I'm ready to move. The biggest time it bothers me is when I pull in the garage, put it in park and take the belt off before turning the truck off. Why can't they make the alarm only come on if the truck is moving? But then again often I get out of the truck to get the mail and then drive up the driveway without the belt, I don't think I'm going to have a high speed head on collision in my driveway, so why put the belt back on?

Probably previous LAWSUITS and.or to prevent future ones.....

Remember do not use the hair dryer in the shower either hehehehe

I was able to turn off the seatbelt warning on my wifes Explorer by jumping through some hoops in a particular order. Its clearly spelled out in the manual.

Wish Chevrolet would do something like that....Even at low volume, that thing is still obnoxious!

On the 02 lanche there's a small black box under the steering column. Must remove the lower trim price( 2 bolts). Unplug the 3 connectors an slide the box out open it up an there's ur speaker carefully pry it up off the circuit board problem solved. Took me literally 10 mins..
