Went on a ministery trip to the Dominican Republic in November of 2005. When we got off the bus at the hotel, in a small central town, there was Shotgun Harry. He was about 5' tall with a sawed-off pistol grip 12 gauge. My wife speaks Spanish, and asked him what he was doing. It turned out that the hotel payed him to watch the cars outside in their parking lot. He was a nice enough guy, unless you were a car thief. Wonder if anyone here has gone this far to protect their AV?

on a trip to Nuevo laredo Mexico last year my dad paid a guy about ten bucks to take care of his truck, we figured he would watch it a few minutes and go get drunk, the next morning we checked out of the hotel and he was asleep leanining against the truck!!?? he took care of it all night

I wouldn't be at all surprised if a large amount of members here subscribe to the Smith & Wesson protection plan.

I have two small dogs that bark at any noise in the back of my house where i park my Av.
There is an alleyway in back that is used too drive between the two streets at eather end, and i also have a 45 acp in easy access.

Colt works too, as well as Srpingfield etc

I have a Springfield T.R.P. Operator with a laser, and a blinding light on it for if and when I ever catch one on my property and especially IN MY AVY!!

I have never used a firearm but my kids and the kids in the neighborhood wont get within a mile of my AV with any sort of ball or toy.

When you live in the sticks like us, the thefts are less likely. However, I keep a Tarus 9mm and Berretta 12ga. in the house. Do have to child proof them, but that is a quick undo. Oh, there is also our guard pig, 6 dogs, 3 horses and 11 cats.

this just happened here today... guys car has been messed with 4 or five times over the last few months, he hears something and goes outside with a 22 rifle. He sees 3 men by his car allegedly trying to steal it and shoots, he hits one in the chest and all 3 flee. Police arrest the guy with the rifle for assault with a deadly weapon, teen is in the hospital expected to survive, the other 2 are being sought for questioning. Rifle guy says he was just trying to scare them and didn't want to hurt them. A local radio personality/former highway patrolman bailed rifle guy out of jail...  going to be interesting to see how this turns out

From the story that was linked:

""What we try to stress to people is that deadly force, the use of a firearm, is never justified under any circumstances to protect property," said Sgt. Matt Young of the Sacramento Police Department."

That $#!* don't fly in TX.  In fact, I understand you don't even need to be provoked in order to justify it according to a law just signed by our governor.

Back in the late 80's my 1986 Chevy Silverado reg cag short bed got stolen from the parking lot of the store I worked for.  Later on, I got a 1988 GMC reg cab short bed, and it was parked next to my boss' car.  Well, a stray dog seeked out his car for shade on the hot July day.  I told him I liked his watch dog.  He told me that if I give him 50 dollars, he would tell the dog to watch my truck.  I thought this was said in POOR taste.

Thats ridiculous, but thats cali where they cant control all the gangbangers running around with full autos. ?Here in FL the passed a law basically saying if anyone is even on your property you have the right to shoot, whether they are in your vehicle or your house is justified now. ?

Thats ridiculous that the guy was protecting his vehicle and HE gets arrested. ?IMO I dont care how old the kids were, they shouldnt be out robbing peoples cars. ?The kid is lucky he survived at all, more people die every year from .22 caliber weapons than all the other calibers combined. ?If it was me, I would have shot all three of them. ?IMO if your gonna go rob and steal, you deseve whatever you get, including loosing your life. ?We need more laws in this country more like those of FL, and TX IMO it would make this country a much better, safer place, and the crime rate would probably have a serious decline.

That story from Liberalfornia is really something!  I live in a very "left-wing" state, and here you can't even defend your own home w/o going to jail.  I am so sick of these apoligists for all the thieves.  Now we have a major shooting in Virginia, and now all the media empty shirts are screaming for gun control.  Maybe if a teacher had a conceal-carry maybe this whole thing would of been avoided!
