Check this from search Mass Air Flow - please read carefully, depending on the state of your mods this could cause you to run lean and damage your engine, in any event the screen is not your limiting factor at this point.
I am doing it for the sake and promotion of the siteygmn said:Goo and your shameless posts!![]()
Y'all please read this carefully - your screen is not limiting your airflow and serves a purpose - if you remove it you may well run lean, depending on what your mods are, and damage your engine.silversport said:Ahhhhh here it is....if I may add my .02...My knowledge in this area is ONLY based on reading about MAFs from other sites and owning a Corvette...Many LS-1 owners remove the MAF...especially Corvette owners (I have not because I have found many fellow '01s that remove the screen to run lean and therefore it is NOT worth it to me) this is (by the way...'02 Z06 Corvettes DO NOT HAVE A SCREEN) because on the Corvette...it is nearly a STRAIGHT SHOT form the air cleaner to the throttle body...The C5 Corvette uses the same MAF as I have in my Av...Consequently...on the Av, it IS NOT A STRAIGHT SHOT from air intake to throttle body (through the MAF) and the screen was designed as an AIR STRAIGHTENER. ?Therefore, I believe it would NOT be advantageous to remove the screen.
You are free to disagree but I thought I would add this information for what it's worth...I am sure at least one guy will disagree. ? This MAY spell trouble for the "tornado" and other similar "power" producing products. ?![]()
