Wow!! Welcome Lottoman,

Ummm Lets see.

If Headlights are on, DRLS Go off. DRLS are on only
when vehicle is out of park and it is daylight.

What do you mean "Also which are low beam and which are drls?" Not sure I understand.

There are 2 light sensors on your dash (they look like little bumps). When low light levels are present, your headlights will illuminate and the DRLs will be off. As light levels increase, the headlamps will eventually deactivate thus activating your DRLs. During daylight hours, the DRLs will be the only lamps lit unless you have selected running/marker lights. As soon as the headlamps are turned on (automatic or manually), the DRLs will go off.

Hope this helps.

lottoman: The above descriptions accurately describe the operation of the DRLs on a US vehicle. However, Canadian regulations for DRLs may have different requirements as to when they are on or off.

My guess is that the location of the lights will be the same in a Canadian vehicle, but the operation could be different.

A quick check of the owner's manual under DRLs, shows that there is one comment relating to Canada, where it states that DRLs are requred in all vehicles first sold in Canada. There are no other comments in that section, so the assumption is that it works the same as US vehicles. Anybody with a Canadian vehicle want to comment?

Why do you ask, are you experiencing problems?

DRLs on Canadian vehicles work as described in the previous posts and the "map" is accurate as well. I believe the DRLs will also not light if the parking brake is engaged.

You are correct. An unmodded vehicle will only have illuminated DRLs whilst in daylight and in gear, forward or reverse, with the parking brake off. As soon as the Av is placed in Park or Neutral or the emergency brake is depressed in any moving gear during daylight, the DRLs are inactivated.
