Heads Up On $2002 Cash Back

O

Osprey

GUEST
Sales-Rep at a local Chevy dealer, in my area, says that the $2002.00 is still available, for select GM vehicles, through April 1st, 2002. ?The Avalanche is at the top of that list of "Select Vehicles." Of course it is. What could be more "Select" than an Avalanche?

Sorry if this is repeat info. I looked for it elsewhere, in the forums, and saw no mention of it. But, good news is always worth repeating. PS .. the 5.9% financing is no longer being offered with this cash-back. But, financing can always be shopped around for.

So, for those of us that have not yet gotten our Avs, there is still time to cash in on these great savings. Yippee!!! ?:D

Now, where can I come up with the rest of that needed down-payment money? Any offers? ?;D

In todays Chicago Sun-Times the Chevy dealers are advertising the $2002 rebates still. They also let you choose between the rebate or 0% financing, which seems to be for 12-36mo finance. 37-48mo was 2.9% I think and 49-60mo was 3.9%. Also says offer runs until 4/1/02.

Just thought I'd give a heads up.

I TOO am considering an Avalanche. But the latest "overdrive" incentives DO NOT LIST the Avalanche as a candidate. Matter of fact, Edmunds also has NO rebate offer listed. But the Silverado 1500 extended cab (4x4), along with another great selling vehicle, Tahoe, have $1500 OR 0%, 3 year loans. If they, Chevy, are willing to rebate the Tahoe and their flagship, Silverado, then the Avalanche SHOULD be included. SO you are saying the Avalanche is offered MINUS $2002 through 4/01/2002? SOUNDS GOOD TO ME. And thank you for the INFO.

Jerry,
I'm not too sure I trust my source for that info, anymore.

SO you are saying the Avalanche is offered MINUS $2002 through 4/01/2002?

You see, this is the same dealer that told me that the bed-floor of the Avalanche is not made of steel but, a composite material, that would not rust. That turned out to be false. Several owners/members here have debunked that myth.

So, I would check it out for yourself. I am going to check with a few other dealers and see what they say. I guess some dealers will say almost anything to close a deal.

Good luck with your purchase. Let us know what you get and how good the deal was.

Yea! Current incentives on the Av are:
Your choice of the
$2002.00 cash-back or
0.0% financing for 36 months or
2.9% financing for 48 months or
3.9% financing for 60 months,
through April 1st 2002.
But, no combinations from GM.

If anyone is thinking of buying go for the 0.0% if you can choke the payments (which would come in around $500 to $800 a month depending on model with say 15% to 30%-ish down but TTL). The payments may be a tad more painful but man do you save a ton of money and you'll never, ever, be upside down on the loan. With 0.0% and even 2.9% for 48 months, the $2,002 is a suckers choice (unless you can get better through your bank or just pay in good ol' fashioned cash)

"just pay in good ol' fashioned cash"

You said a mouthful there, Chief.

And, I totally agree with your math, on the short-term loans.
But, as you said,... "if you can choke the payments",... well, that's the downside. As it looks now, we'll probably need to pay this kind of loan off over a term longer than even that 3.9% 60 months. That being the case the $2002 up front is the better way to go because my trade-in is only worth about $4K. That leaves just way too much to finance, even at 3.9% over 60 months.
With that $2002 to add to the down-payment, that would lower the principle enough to allow for a 66 or 72 month loan with much lower payments coming out of a rather tight household budget. But, loans can be shopped around for and half-decent rates can still be found, even for those longer terms.

For some of us this is the only way we can do it. And, that was just one scenario. And then, there's always the LOTTO!
I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Whatever it takes.... I'm getting an Avalanche!

If your looking for good rates check out Peoplefirst.com. When I got my Av and Gm was going 5.9% they gave me 5.4% 60 mos. Might be a tad lower. Could take the 2002 and the 5.4...still pay more over all but the payments would be about 19.29/$1000 vs. 27.76/$1000 for the 0%. I wish I had got mine while they had 0.0%, $1000 cust. cash and $500 dealer cash!!!!!!!
Those days are gone but you can still get an AV for $6500 to $7000 off plus GM Card $ if you have one. I think once the word gets out about how nice the AVs are the incentive are going to dry up. Probably by the 2K3 model. Going to Dallas from SW MO today ;-)
