Is there any way to make the heated seats work without putting weight on them?

The reason I'm asking is since its starting to get cold it sucks to let the truck warm up but the seats not get warm until you sit on them. I'd guess it would be a sensor somewhere in the seat that tells it that it has weight on them. Anybody know where to find this sensor on the seat?

Thanks,
Charlie

Mine warm up without weight on them. I click them on and walk away while they warm up and it works fine. I am kind of hoping there is a way I could get them to turn on via remote on my remote starter that will be coming before too long... Kodiakz - what do you think of this? They are not on the databus are they?

my 2002 warm up without me on them....

my 03' warms up without weight.

I have a 02 and mine heat up without weight on them. I also have them set up as my 5th button on my remote start(trunk button) so I can start my truck and get the seats warming before I get in, I LUV IT ;)

Thanks for the idea, now I know what to do with my trunk button on my remote start.

The 3/4ton I will get soon is going to have heated seats... so I would like to know how to wire up heated seats to remote starter... I wish I had kids lol... then I could use the redneck remote start "Hey boy! go start my Truck" ;D

My' 04 needs the weight to work. Also turns it off when the weight is removed. The passenger sensor also turns ON or OFF the passenger airbag.

heated seats heat up awful quick...I would hate for the remote starter to kick them off and some kinda glitch burn your truck down from the inside.

we just realized that the seats dont heat up until we put the weight on them.

but we didnt mind...like I say they heat up Quick.

I also have the heated seats set on my remote starter - mine is activated on the AUX button of my Python remote. They heat up just fiine without any weight on them (I have a 2002). This is a MUST have mod for up here in Minnesota.

For those of you who say your seats do not warm up without any weight on them, does your Hi / LOW Warning lamp also not light up until weight is on the seats?
In our '02, if the light is on, the seat warmers are on when the button is pushed, weather there is anyone in the seat or not.

I did notice that if I started the AV, turned on the seats and waited about 5 minutes before getting in, the seats did not feel all that warm, even on the high setting. But once I got into the seat, it was just a few seconds before I could feel the HI heat.
I was thinking, that maybe the heat does not transfer as well through the leather, when there is lack of pressure of the leather up against the heating element, when no one is sitting in the seat.

Just thought I would share some observations.

The seats in my 02 Z71-OnStar heat up just fine! The problem is I don't know how to hook my remote starter up to turn on my seats? Can anyone tell me where the wires to do that is, and the condition that is needed to turn them on? Such as Pulse this wire to ground, or set this wire to +12v.

BTW this is my first post! I just installed the remote starter and now I can stop thinking about more mods. :0:

I can't help u much as I had mine done at an Install place. But I think they had to add a module or something like that to the heated seat switch. Welcome to the club.

I checked again on my '04. I can start the car and tun "on" the drivers seat heat but not the passenger seat, it needs the weight. All good though they heat up pretty quick and have to be turned down. (for me anyways)
