Question. My heated seats do not seem to put much heat in the back rest, heat goes no higher than my lower back.

And it is in the full on, top & bottom high setting. Does this sound normal?

I guess I thought the heated seats were only the horizontal "butt" portion anyway. Someone please clear this up/back me up as I believe the only part heated is the seat bottom.

DCRANER, I don't have my AV yet, but I am quite sure that the back rest heater should go up to your shoulder blades. I know that the 03 AV has indepentant controls for the seat bottom and the back rest heaters, where as the 02 did not. Before you take it to the dealer to get inspected, try turning on the passenger heated seat to confirm that it operates differently. It is unlikely that both seats would fail in the same manner at the same time.

Hey Guys

The backs of the seats do have heat the heating pad only goes up from the bottom of the back about 10 inches. The heating pad is not that big. I looked into this when I installed the heaters in the back seats I choose not to do the backs in the rear seats.

I tell you though that heat in the lumbar support is great. I drove straight for 8 hours a couple times in the past week and it sure was a great feeling to have that heat on my mid-back with the lumbar and side supports. Our Cadillac Catera seats also only warm up to the mid-back as well.

Mine heat up fairly slow.......I am almost in town, about 8 miles before they get real warm. I have had Buicks that were HOT within 2 miles!

Wow, my seats are almost TOO HOT! If I turn them on high in 20 degree temp, I have to put them on low after 2 minutes or they are burning me. Plus even on low, it still gets pretty warm before the thermostat finally kicks in. I still have to switch over to back only because the butt heat is too warm, even on low. I wonder why there is such a variation in heat between the Av's?

My seats heat up quickly and they are HOT!! I have them on high, then low, then completely off because they get too hot.

Mine is in the shop tonight (away from it's Daddy :() and the seats are one reason the passenger side didn't work although mine worked real good almost too good, after tearing into the seats they found 3 shourts in the one seat and 2 in the other, the driverside was heating too high and they said i was lucky it didn't cause a fire. If they get THAT HOT QUICKLY I would have them check it out ...While I had it in the shop I gave them a whole list of little piddly stuff to do since it had to be there all day anyways ;)

my seats get pretty warm on hi, tolerable on low but after 10mins or so I have to turn them off. Haven't checked out any other av's around town or the dealer yet to see if mine should have such a swing from hi to low.

From the 2003 online owners manual...

The low setting warms the seatback and cushion until
the seat temperature is near body temperature. The
medium and high settings heat the seatback and seat
cushion to a slightly higher temperature. You will be able
to feel heat in about two minutes.

My experience has been that the manual is correct. When I first get in the Av I put the seat on Hi, after 3 min. or so I put it on Low. Drove 240 miles to the Detroit Auto Show with it on low and it was always just nice, never too hot.
