I would like to use the Factory switch and wiring from the heated washer circuit to power up my strobes. (Or the compressor for Train horns) The idea of having a factory switch that lights up when it's powered, combined with the wiring already ran to the fuse box and out to basically where I want it is pretty appealing.
Just wondering if anyone has a schematic showing how this is routed. I know I will need to put a 60 amp fuse back into the panel, but I'm wondering if this circuit is on a timer or if that was built into the heated wash fluid assembly.
Thanks in advance for any input you may have.

That's exactly what I was hoping for! I wasn't sure how the LED was lit on the switch and what the other control wires were for.

Just thought it would be nice to have a big fat power and ground, fused through the factory box and all the switch wiring with an LED to confirm it's operation would be cool, as well as shutting off with the ignition an easy way to power up some new mods.

Now I just have to find someone to Laser Etch the factory switch after I repaint it.

Once again, MS03 2500 Thank You! for sharing your vast wealth of knowledge with the rest of us.

DouglasOak,

Hi, Were you able to figure out the wiring to re-use that fluid heater switch for something else?  I would like to do the same, but I don't really understand the schematic here.  In my 2008 Silverado, I have 5 wires on the low-power harness:
Black - ground
Red - power
Green - has power
white - has power
Brown - nothing

I've figured out that when Brown is connected with Green, and the switch is pressed, The wipers come on 4 times.
When the White wire is connected to the Brown wire, and the switch is pressed, the LED light comes on only as long as the switch is held down.

I would like to wire in a relay to take advantage of the fused thick power and ground, and use the switch for some hi-power lights.

Can you share any insight as to how you wired it up?  Thank you very much!

Check out this link, (the colors on my 08 were a little different from yours, not sure why)

One other question:  are you able to get the LED stay on when you push the switch?

thanks

Yes, the latching relay has a ground (-12v) output that I tied into for the ground wire to light the led. latched output active= LED on

@GatorIsaac this should be the one
