Hey, I'm having a problem with the auto climate control. Everything works as it should except for when I adjust the temp control just a few degrees. It'll go from cold to very hot. There is no in between. I'm thinking it's the heater control actuator. My question is would I have to replace both or just the one on the passenger side? I'm not sure what actually controls the temperature and if there are two for the dual climate control.

If I am understanding your issue correctly, on your auto a/c when you rotate the temp knobs, the temp setting behaves in a way you can not adjust to a precise temp.

If this is the case, the fix can be very easy.

Purchase a spray can of CRC QD Contact Cleaner.

Pull each of the round temp knobs straight off of the a/c controller.

Spray the cleaner straight down the knob shaft as you turn the shaft back and forth.

I did this with the a/c running.

This contact cleaner will not harm the electronics.

Push each knob back on.

Your a/c controls should now function properly.

I also used this method to fix car audio knobs that would not adjust the volume correctly.

Good to know. I need to try that as I turn the temperature up and it actually goes down. Was planning to eventually replace the control unit but will try that first.

first read the HVAC codes with a capable scanner and advise. They don't turn any lights on. Car Diagnostic Pro for Android will do the job. Recommend using the BAFX Bluetooth OBD2 interface as sold on Amazon.

You have two temperature doors on separate actuators. One right and one left. Setting below 65 or above 85 it does not use any of the temp sensors and there are several - just goes full cold or full hot and high blower. Really stupid system. I fixed mine about a year ago.
