Heater Fan Issues

About a week ago, my fan quit working. I could still feel heat, but no forced air. Checked the fuses...all good. Tried different settings (Feet, vent, defrost), but no dice. Occasionally I could hear a slight clicking but not much else. Lowered the temp to 65 and clicked A/C and all it did was flash and go off. Then this morning I stopped for a cup of coffee and left the vehicle running and when I got back in the truck, it was blasting away like it used to. Before I take it in and spend an arm and a leg to diagnose the issue, I thought I would ask you all if you have any advice. I am wondering if I have a short, bad relay or bad connection. Your thoughts????

Quick follow up on this. After much research, it turns out that Chevys are notorious for having their Blower Motor Resistor go bad. Bought a new one and replaced it in 10 minutes. Held my breath but no joy when I started my truck up. Tried every setting, every fan speed and still nothing. I even pulled out the three fan relays on the fuse box and put them back in. Shut the hood and stood there baffled and the fan suddenly came to life, although it sounded like it was struggling. After a few minutes I lowered the fan speed it sounded terrible so I think its the fan motor. I have an appointment next week to have it looked at so I will monitor it for now and keep the appointment just in case. Too bad they are charging me $96 to diagnose it, but I will need the fan during the summer so might as well fix it now.

Blower motor is Part 9 on this diagram https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/auto-parts/2013/chevrolet/avalanche/black-diamond-ltz-trim/5-3l-v8-flex-engine/hvac-cat/blower-motor-and-fan-scat
$140 after shipping through gmpartsdirect.  GM part# 22741027

$93.46 on amazon  https://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-15-81683-Original-Equipment-Conditioning/dp/B004944YJG/

It appears fairly simple to replace.

Guys, can he pull the old motor and apply 12v to verify it is bad before dropping $100 to buy a new one? MTCobra if it were me I'd buy from Amazon and give the new motor a shot!
