Greetings,

I am very close(2 days) to purchasing an Avalanche! One has the "Heavy duty trailering equipment" option - $165, and the other doesn't. Could anyone please tell me what is included in this option? Does the Avalanche without this option still have a receiver hitch? TIA!

It is my understanding that the hitch and plug are now the "Trailering Option". I would say get it, even if your not gonna tow. Will always help with resale. And when you do want to tow, you'll have it.

Hitch and wiring is all that you get here as far as I'm aware. At $165 it's a decent deal.

At 6.0% interest over five years it will increase your payment by $3.19 each month. ?Pretty good deal! ?

$165 for a Class III hitch with wiring installed to the frame is a good deal. Also if you plan to ever go off-roading the trailer hitch serves as an excllent place to pull or be pulled from if you get stuck. :p Also as noted will only help resale value. Also, in the event of a low speed rear-ending accident the hitch, especially if you have a trailer ball on it will provide SOME additional protection to the rear bumper and will help distribute a lot of the impact force through the frame.

Just my thoughts. Now $125 for tires with raised white letters on them, that's another story... ;D

It'll cost you way more to get a hitch of that quality from a shop as compared to the factory. Don't even think about this one. If you don't tow anything, it still works great as a bike rack or ski rack holder.

Good luck,
