My hard cargo covers are fading very badly, along with the butress cross section on the roof. Is there a remedy for this or is this something that I'll just have to live with? And no, I don't put any Armor All or anything like that on them. ???

MY 03 AV is going to the dealer tomorrow to have the Hard covers cleaned with their special Armadillo Cleaner. The dealer will do this once for free... After that is anyones guess, some say they push hard enough and Chevy replaces the covers. I just want to see if I can buy this cleaner they use...

I just coated mine last night with plasti-kote bed liner spray. I got the idea from another thread where, I believe, Vader and a couple others have done it. will try to get some pictures to post. it looks pretty good. Need some touch up on some uneven spots, but much better than the faded '02 cladding looked.

I have been toying with the idea of covering mine with Diamond Plate Steel... Not sure how it would look though. Should be pretty sweet...

surprised your '03 plastic looks so bad. Many reports of '02 issues, but not so many '03.

Let us know how it goes with the dealer if you take it in

The caps are the same as the 02's just darker.. They only changed the Cladding to the new plastic in 03... The only reason I can think of the top sail panel piece fadding is because it is in direct sun light all most all the time...??? The top panel on mine has held up pretty good. I will have to check it later before it's gets cleaned tomorrow...

The armor-dillo wipes are fairly expensive at my dealer @ $16.90 per wipe
I believe you will need 5 or 6 to do all of the cladding on your AV.

If that's not a racket then I've never seen a racket...sheesh

I just recently had mine in for service this past week and had them apply the ArmorDillo to the cladding and I'll tell you what...It really makes a difference.

I had mine replaced a little less than a year ago for the same problem. At least it was covered under warranty. Shortly thereafter, a memo was put out to not replace the panels, and treat with the Armordillo.

I had the dealership look at mine last week for bad fading. Since it was raining, they let me take the kit home, just haven't had a chance to apply it.

But, the bottom line to all of this is that it's nothing more than a band-aid. The best reports I've heard is that this patch is only good for about 3 months. Back to the drawing board!!!

I used bed liner paint on my faded panels last year and the black color and texture looks as good if I just painted it.

Your are quite welcome. You will enjoy having no fading of the cargo panels anymore. :B:

Has anybody painted the covers along with the rest of the cladding? I'm planning on doing that with mine. In fact, I think those are the first pieces I will be painting next month.

Those would be some heavy panels. Strong but heavy! They might bow under their own weight without some reinforcing.
