I got mine today and tried to use it
After downloading from the pcm It said please wait storing data it has said that for 50min now
The book says not to disconnect it but how long should it take?
If anybody knows please get back to me right away

Is it doing any thing else? In the right corner is the stick wheel image turning?

As long as it only reading your PCM is safe, it's when it starting to write and it craps out is when you start to weep.

I wish I had some words of wisdom for you. ?I would hope no damage has been done since it seems you never started the flash of the PCM. ?What was the firmware number of your unit whewn first plugged in? ?Keep us up to date on your progress please. ?My unit is a 2295E date 09/06/02.

Added:

I would try a recovery since it now wont start.

No it got past that. and it did not upload we did unplug it now it won't start

Dam, sorry to hear that.

The tuner only writes after it stores the PCM so it must have got past that.

Did you get an error measage???

It should have tried to reload your factory PCM 3 times after an error and you would know as it ask you to turn the ignition key on & off.

H-Bear,

As far as I know Superchips installs in the club for the 5.3 are 0 for 3  , precede with caution my friend.

Has anyone had a successful install on the 2295 tuner?

I'm now going to wait until this is all ironed out. I was going to park across from dealer tomorrow but will now hold off.

This is crazy!

Tom: can you help apply pressure with superchips? I think we found a trend here? only 5.3l seem to fail? is that the pattern? :8:

the piece of junk won't go into recovery
because it never downloaded
and now the fuel pump is dead

Sounds like the PCM was erased. ?Kill a six pack tonight and call your dealer tomorrow and just say it won't start.

Any GP buyers from the Orlando area who would be willing to bring Superchips the tuner and have them try to install it?

well I installed it
It uploaded from the pcm then said please wait storing data after 1 hour I pulled it then my av would not start
I disconected my battery for an hour then my av started
Please note I would not use this thing if you want your av to run. I feel lucky mine starts now it could be on it's way to the chevy dealer on the back of a tow truck
It does seem to be a problem with the 5.3 and superchips does not have it right I will be asking for a refund.
the one I got said on it 2295E 9/4/02 beware!!!!!

Well I guess this settles it. No Superchips for my Av.

Rager,

My heart started racing when I read your post. I am so glad that you got the AV started. By disconnecting the battery I think the PCM went into a full reset and never had the data erased.

Your very lucky and I am very pissed that this has happened again. My programmer started to write when it screwed up. My PCM had been fried at that point.

This is total Bull Sh*t and I can see a class action lawsuit looming.

As long as we are all documenting these issues, There is no way that Superchips can tip toe around this design flaw.

Alright, this message is from rager24, who couldn't post this morning and asked me to do it for him.

Rager24 called superchips this morning, and after speaking with Randy at Superchips, he was informed that they have not been able to get this to work with any 5.3L Avalanches. Randy told Rager24 to let everyone with the 5.3L programmer NOT TO USE THEM. They have only tested the 8.1L ver on an Avalanche, and it worked fine. If there are any further details, I will post them or Rager24 will.

Thanks,
Gatorjedi

I'll be giving SuperChips a call this morning to see what they have going on and how they are going to handle it.

Hey Tom,

How about this idea. I am supposed to receive the superchips tuner this friday. Instead of you issuing a refund, can I exchange it for the Hypertech tuner? I believe in the technology but don't trust superchips anymore. regardless if they fix this problem.

Leave it to Carrerarod to come up with a GREAT IDEA! I am with you on this one buddy. If he will do that, I will be a happy man! Now what about the mid range performance improvements? How do we get those?

I am not interested in this option. I want the full range RPM improvement. I might lean more towards the Direct Hits ignition, at the GP price, with a refund of the difference.

And that's fine. To each their own.

Let's wait and see what Tom comes up with for us. Hopefully we will hear something today.

carerrarod,
I'm leaning toward your idea of the hypertech. I went and read everything on Hypertech's site, and they do not work on wide open throttle only, contrary to popular belief.
My first instinct was to buy the Hypertech, but I read all these great things about the Superchip and got that instead. Maybe they should rename it Supersh_ts!
Let's hope there is a resolution soon.

The only things that work on WOT is the feature of changing rev limiter. The fuel mixture, shift firmness, and many other things are throughout the range of throtle.

Is this getting confusing yet? I am more confussed now that I talked to someone about the HPIII!

I need sleep!!!

Hi all !
I bought a superchip for my 8,1 av. Took it home to Norway. Tryed to load down yesterday. It went wrong.
get a lot of error messages. Have sendt my Car computer and the chip back to Florida by ups. Can not drive my av for a long time !! Cost me a lot of $$$$$.
 :3: :7: :8: :C: :( :7: :wail

Check out the dyno charts on the Hypertech site and you will see hp and torque gains at all rpms.

Well guy's after calling superchips at 8:30 am
and told them what happen to my av
and step by step what I did to install it I was told
That I installed it right and they said
That it has never been tested on a 5.3 av
And they have recieved many calls about this happing to our av's. And Tom was told of this problem before it was shipped I was told to send mine back for a full refund.

Now for the real fun.
I called Tom's office and a real nice lady helped me I told her what had happen and what superchips told me. She said she had just gotten off the phone with superchips and was told I must have done something wrong that it works on everybody's elses 5.3 av
and she told me that Tom did call and check with superchips as to if they work with a 5.3 Av. and was told that the head programer drives a 5.3 av and it has been tested.
Then this nice lady gave me a RA number and a full refund.

Now I belive Tom and his crew. Why on earth would he want to sell 21 of them just to take them all back.

But the funny thing is we both talked to Randy. At superchips Two phone calls to different outcomes
Makes me think a rats at play at superchips

I hope this helps everyone
Ron

I have been spending my $'s on other mod's - I now know I won't be sending any $'s to support superchips.
