My brand new, not even a month old, baby was hit last night in a parking lot :8: :8: (for those of you that don't know what those smiles mean...I am VERY angry)

They dented in the front bumper cladding and broke the fog light assembly!!! Worst thing about it is the f**ers didn't even leave a note. :8: :8:

So now it looks like 250 out of pocket for me for the insurance deductable... So XM will have to wait.

Sorry, just had to vent. This is the second time something like this has happened to me. The first year I bought my Audi...somebody plowed into it while it was parked and left no note as well. At least this time, it won't affect the resale value.

What A bummer! I almost always take a walk around my Av when returning from parking. I have been lucky and not had any damage but I have a plan if I ever do. I kind of park away from the crowd and If there is anyone around I take note just in case something does happen I could find them later. If there were no one around and there were damage when I returned I would wait for a while and ask everyone that got in a car anywhere around that could see my Av if they saw anything. I might even take a look around the parking lot to see if the jerk was still there. If I were to find him, I have a plan for that to!! >:D

Unfrotunately, it was an empty lot and I did not notice the damage until I drove away and realized that the fog light was not working. If I found the guy or girl...let just say some words would have been said...yeah thats safe...words >:D

I feel your pain. Some Jacka$$ clipped my drivers side rear door with his mirror (I'm guessing) while my Av was parked on the street at my g/f's house. I've got a nice 8 inch crease (complete with white paint) along the door right above the cladding. Could have come up to the door or at least left a note... but, alas, no.

I know what is like. This happened to me at least three times. I used to work in a Plaza that had an Off Track Betting place in it; some one came out with a few too many under his belt and rammed into my brand new Grand Cherokee. I was near the window when it happned and was at least able to get a description. Ab out a month later a State Trooper stopped by and hauled a guy into the store and asked if this was the guy; the police actually tracked the scum down from paint sample left on my truck!
Luckly, nothing had happned to my Av.

I share your pain, had a jerk in a white van come left of center last night -- I avoided the head on but he clipped my mirror. He kept on going and was gone by the time I got turned around. :7:

I guess I should be happy that it wasn't worse but it sure ruined my evening!

I would be cursing, but what is the use...

poop mother f#*%$!**g not a very nice person ****!!!

modified---a couple words made it through >:D

I end up sounding happy with the censor filters. ?;D

Feels good to vent. ?This happens way too much. ?When I see someone doing that...I make sure to give them a peice of my mind.

P.S. ?Thanks for the consolences ?;D

In my old car, someone hit the front bumber, I wasnt there, but there was a note on my car! It said, "Im writing you this note cause I hit your car. People think Im leaving my info for you, but I'm just telling you that your screwed!" I was SOOOOOO MAD :8: :8: :8: :8: My friend said he thought that was an "urban legend" but it actually happended to me, when i showed him the note, he laughed at me. It sucked. But there wasnt much damage so i didnt car tooo much.

Oh boy do I know about this. I was stopped at a light last month and a guy going in the other direction lost control and hit my car. I grabbed my cell phone and got out and guess what: he hauled ass. I couldn't believe it. My car was totalled. But I took my meager insurance payout and added it to my meager tax refund and the not so meager $4000 rebate and bought my new Avalanche, absolutely the greatest vehicle I have ever owned. So even though I hate the guy who creamed me, I love him too! The bastard.

Geez bloke I feel for you... that is a *LOW* act and IMHO should be punishable by the forfeiture of breathing rights...

Lets continue our pain sharing and stories over at Pete's place.

A few years back when I lived in an aprtment, my car was left on the street overnight. When I went out the next morning the front end was just about ripped off. I called the police and found it had happened about midnight but no one knew which aprtment I lived in - the car was still registered at my parents' house. I found a broken bezel and a piece of red fiberglass underneath. I pulled the left fender back, wired up the bumper and headed to my parents' to put it in the garage and see what could be done. Just then I saw a red Buick with front end damage drive by. I followed him for about 3 miles until he pulled into a driveway and I followed. A 40's something guy gets out, smiles, and says "Hi, can I help you?" I asked what happed to his car and he says his son got hit while at the theater the night before. I took the broken bezel and red piece I found and it fit perfectly into his broken grille. I told him what really happened and that a police report had been made. He said, "Please come inside, we need to talk." His 16 year old son was sitting on the couch as we entered - he had his license for less than a week. Dad said "The guy who's car you smashed last night is here to talk with you..." The kid started bawling like a baby and denied everything. Dad and I worked out the insurance details and settled up with the police. My car was totaled but the insurance company sold it back to me for $1. I got it fixed and came out ahead by about $1200. The guy called me two weeks later to see if everything was OK and asked me to stop by. When I did he handed me $500 cash and said he appreciated me not pressing charges on the hit-and-run. He said his son wouldn't be driving again until he was 18 and the $500 plus any raise in his insurance rates would be coming from his son's part-time job. All in all a happy ending for me. I can't imagine being this lucky again in such a situation...

You were very lucky, indeed. I wonder how that kid turned out?

Been there, had that happen to me too. I know how pi$$ed I was when it happened to me. SOB hit the front of my AV. Probably best that this SOB did take off in my case.

Sorry to hear this type of BS still goes on.

It is too easy to just walk aw...drive away. So few hit and runners get cought, there is not much we could do. Bummer really...but you know what. It is one of the few things car insurance companies are actually good for.
