Hood Protection

I have been thinking about how to protect my hood from rock chips. I am putting on a Billet Grill so I think the bug deflector is out. I don't like the Bra, I have seen to many that retain moisture and damage the paint.
That leaves the Clear Plastic Film that some of the dealers are putting on the front of cars and trucks. You can't see it unless you are right up to it. Has anyone tried this product and what do you think? Any other information would be appreciated.

My wife has this on her Rendezvous.... so far, it appears to be working as advertised. It IS practically invisible.

I have a Carriage Billit Grill, a WeatherTech Hood Deflector and a 3M Clear Bra. The Billit Grill does NOT interfere with the deflector - it has a pretty low profile so I do not know if others would have a problem fitting with the Billit Grill.

is one of the sights for this product, It is very durable, not much noticable I have it on my wifes' X-terra.
On my Av I have a billet grille, and a clear bug shield painted to match on the inside of it so it doesnt get chipped either, works like a charm and looks superb! (pics below)

I thought I had read in here somewhere that the bud deflectors and the billet grills conflicted. I am going to check at the local dealer and see if they can install the clear bra.

Were do you get this stuff?
It was installed at the dealer. They have a guy that comes around twice a week to do it. We also had him put it on the back of her mirrors.

I talked to one of my dealer friends today. He said he has seen several cars come through his dealership that the stuff has started to dis-color or big enough rock had hit it that there was a small hole that let water in.

Well, hers hasn't discolored... but it's only about 1.5 years old. As for the big rock... Yeah, that can happen. If it does, you should get the clear bra repaired. But think what would have happened to the paint without it!

I installed the X-PEL kit for the Avy only about 6 months on now and no problems. Now that kit is on I will never have a rock kick up again from a car in front of me. lol
