How Hot In Your AV?

GUEST
My wife and I spent the weekend in Palm Springs (Rancho Mirage actually). The weather channel said this was the hottest place in the country. I did about 1,000 miles in the AV in 115+ degree weather all weekend! I actually had my camera on one crossing of the desert and snapped this cool picture. I wasn't able to get one when it was 122 degrees but you get the idea: (I was doing 95MPH when I snapped this picture on the I-10)

Driving the AV last Thursday in Livermore I saw the gauge hit 111

Just way to hot has been over 100 every day for the last 1.5 weeks :(

You would think with all the windmills off the I-10 that it wouldn't get that hot there ;D

My highest 'accurate' reading has been 101 this summer. Sitting in traffic idling with the AC on, on a hot day though, I've seen 142 on the readout. That sort of startled me at first, but engine temp was fine - guess it's just heat buildup at the sensor that did that.

Dam that's HOT

I was going to quote one of Robin Williams jokes from Good Morning Vietnam when he described how hot it was - but I can't remember any

I think the hotest I've read on mine over here in Ohio is 95

Go here: GMV quotes

;D

I hope I never see those temps again! That's one of the main reasons I fled from New Mexico. So far I think the hottest I have been is 96 outside. Today we are supposed to go near 100. Bummer :cautious: At least it is only for a couple days out of the year. :)

I think I am going to try for the coldest temp later in the year. :D

I don't think GM would recommend you taking pictures of your rear view mirror at that speed. :)

I've seen it give an accurate reading of 96 here in FL, low 100's to 110's while parked, but nothing over that.

I will say though, being the first vehicle I've owned with leather seating, the seats haven't gotten nearly as hot as I've expected. I do have the sport cloth, which may help flesh burning temps.

95 MPH at 115 deg
Hope your were using Mobile 1
cause your oil was as thin as pissing on a griddle
I think the 95mph was to get away from the heat??

nope. not yet. I plan on putting Mobil 1 in shortly. I always drive at least 95mph...Sometimes I forget I am in a 6700+ lbs beast and not my Porsche! ;D

My better half and I went to Vegas 3 weeks ago. I got readings of 115(whew!). Lowest temp reading was on I-40 at the continental divide some time in Feb it was 1 deree (brrrrrrrr)

Cruising up the 101 the temp kept going up. When it got to 110 I said "that can't be right" and rolled down the window. Outch. It was right. (Broke all sorts of records that day.)

One thing though, the A/C was losing ground against the heat. A couple times it spontaniously went into recirc mode.

The hottest I've seen on my display has been 102, but I don't think that was the accurate reading...I believe that it was the sun beating on the sensor that put out that high a reading.....it was pretty hot though.... :B:

The hottest I have seen my Temp at was 105 but I know that has to do with where the sensor is located. The coldest was -7 in Feb.

Official temp here today was 101, but as you can see by my AV mirror it was a little hotter :C:
