Well I have owned vehicles some I have kept and driven for 10 years others for 1 year......some 2 never the same...I usually can tell after the first year how long I will keep it.....

For me I will keep this one forever.....when it gets old I will probably buy something to drive for work...but the avy will remain at my house....

What about you?

I voted "OTHER" because I love my cladded AV, and I would like to keep getting cladded AVs, so in the off chance they keep producing them cladded (straight from the factory or as an option), I would hope to get a new one cladded...

...if not I am keeping this one forever! ;D

Planning on driving this one for 6-8 years, and then buying a new one for hauling the grandkids camping.....

Voted other. Was going to keep my 02 forever until I saw a WBH. Will keep this one forever until I see ???

right now i am will go with "forever". with the truck industry in so much competition i might have to look elsewhere when the General comesout with something else. i really hate to say this on a Chevy lover sight, but the '04 F*** caught my eye. i believe it was the top of the line model with the wide center console and chrome look dash. very nice touches. kinda Euro. but then i came back to my senses. so now you know what you have to do General.

I voted 75-100K but hope to building a house b4 too long and that vote might get moved to "as long as it's still running!"

I'm kinda liking the look of the '04 F**d's too. Not enough to even consider getting rid of the AV though!! Still not too sure about that center mounted shifter in a truck...that would take some getting used too. Exterior is pretty sharp looking though.

I voted forever and that the current plan. I have never had a vehicle that I've had to do major work to, I've always traded it in before anything major went wrong with it, but I plan on keeping this one and if I need to do major work to it then so what. I also currently work kind of far from my house so I am putting about 21k a year on it.

I'd like to think longer but I rarely keep one for more that a couple yrs. Will probably look seriously at the upcoming 1/2 ton Cew Cab. Much as I like the Av, even with the WBH you've got a lot of plastic to care for. I won't be a slave to it. Only problem with CC is I'd be back to a longer wheelbase and I'd hate to lose the niiiiice ride! If the new Sport Red looked as nice as I had hoped for I'd be looking at that. But it doesn't. Although I still haven't seen it on a WBH yet. Maybe some day I'll be able to convince my Wife to take mine and look for a new one! Yeah that's it, I need two of 'em! (y)

I usually keep vehicles 4-6 years, depending on how well the dealer fixes the problems under warranty. Right now I have a fog light with moisture, delaminated chevy bowtie, squeaking dash and now I've got loose steering where I feel vibration/clunking in the steering wheel going around turns.

I voted for 150K. My last two trucks I kept 9+ years each. By then they had high mileage and needed lots of injections of $$$ to keep them running. I get rid of them at that point.

Besides, by that time something nicer will be out. Can you imagine what the 2013 Avalanche will look like?!?! :B:

forever - I want to be buried in my Av. Sure, they'll have to dig a bigger hole, but if I accidentally come back, I can call OnStar for help.

ROFLMAO
Karma, brother...

My plan is 10 years. I will probably buy a 3rd car for the family after this one is paid off. Maybe a used Mini Cooper S or a BMW 3 series convertable--something fun.

OOOOOOOH KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEE

I plan on keeping the Av in our family for ever. In fact I made my only son a deal. I told him the day I bought it if he will help keep it as clean as it was the day I bought it, it was his when he graduates from High School. He was 8 at the time. For 7 months now he has done a great job. Now only time will tell.

Peace!
Todd

I'm on the '2 or 10' plan. I figure the first 2 years will tell me whether I want to go the next 8. I can unload it at 2 and it still should be worth something. So far I'm loving just about everything about the AV and thinking 10.

Since I already plan to keep my Sonoma forever, and do much more to it later on in life...(Retirement Project)...That's right the 21yr old thinking about retirement. Many of my dad's friends have kept their first car and added to it over the years. This being factored in, I would probably keep my current AV for 3 to 5 years or until it started to give me problems. Then I would have to decide on whether to get a new/used AV or a new/used EXT. I definitely see myself in a derivative of this vehicle for a very long time. I'm not really one to drive a car, and I need more room than a pickup will give me. So it's either and AV or a Suburban.....more proof to me staying with this type of truck is heredity, my dad is on his 3rd Suburban, and is looking for another; and my grandfather is on his 4th or 5th Suburban.

Well so far it looks like there should not be many used avys on the market

I dont want any Car payments after this is one is done. I figure this truck will last a long time if taken care of properly. Its been good to me. I can tell you that this is one of those vehicles 30 years from I'll be looking fondly upon as being the best one I ever owned.

I have invested a lot of additional money in it (that's your fault ;D) , It wouldn't make too much financial sense for me to get rid of it.

I have a good question to ask however. 20 years from now where will we all be? Will we still be meeting here? Will this experience end when our trucks drive their last mile? Has anyone ever thought about this?

I haven't even thought about what I'm going to have for lunch today, let alone where we'll be in 20 years. Geez Surge, when did you go and get all philosophical on us?

Ive owned alot of vehicles since I began to drive. And all I can say is this is the one, going to keep it until it drives itself 6 feet under!
