How Many 02 First Owners Are Left

Still kickin since December of 2001. 145k on the clock. I just did a bunch of front suspension maintenance lke upper/lower ball joints, sway bare links and bushings, and idler arm. Replaced seals on transfer case and oil pan and replaced the belts.

Now I'm adding headers, new exhaust and an electric fan this week. Cosmetic refurbishing to come early next year I think. I'll drive it for another 100k I'm guessing and then we'll see.

In a previous post about your truck, which looks great by the way, you talked about your front bumper.  You had Reunel crossed out.  We have an 04 with cladding and it's tough to find a bumper for it.  So seeing yours prompted this reply.  But in reading your post it appears this is custom by someone local and not Reunel?  Would that be a good assumption?  Thanks too for mentioning the upkeep you're doing on your truck.  We have the same plan with ours, albeit we only have 86k on it.  But we'd rather upgrade it and drive it for 10 more years then try to buy a new $50k truck or spend $15k on a used one.  We have a used one (our current Avalanche), but at least we the original owner.  I just think our money is better spent that way instead of looking elsewhere.

Thanks Steve. My Av is a 2002 and it is nice to be the original owner. I had a local guy make this bumper for me. He had a very loose and creative process to make it. No plans or drawings. He does this for a living and I kind of trusted him to use  his judgement. I had input on the stinger and bar on the front. He wanted something bigger/taller and I convinced him I wanted it sleeker. The license plate comes out and there is a receiver there for a winch. I had 2 sets of round holes made for the running and fog lights. The lights are PIAA's using the same wiring so they function like factory, but the lights are way better.  I think it turned out great. He made it, primered it and installed it for $1700. It's a beast. You can't buy the premade steal bumpers with this much solid metal. I found the guy on Craigslist and it worked out great.

Thanks for the reply.  It does look like it turned out great.  I'm still in the early stages of my search, but I have found many people who had these custom built.  Once I start looking around town locally (maybe even a local Avalanche club) I may end up going this route.  Your cost is in line with what I would expect, so that's not too shocking.  I do like that yours is sleeker.  I've seen some giant bumpers that appear to add too much weight to the front end for my comfort level.

I checked your profile and couldn't see where you're located....just in case.  You don't happen to be in souther Idaho?  lol  If so, I'd seek out your builder.

Still have my 2002 AV 2500 227,000 plus miles, picked it up exactly 13 years ago today..

One of the best vehicles I've ever owned..

I still have mine too.  Bought new 9/2001.  Has 157,xxx miles on it, and I'm not getting rid of it, probably  never will!

Mine is still kicking (other than the steering issue LOL). Only 75K from the previous owner (my Grandpa) but going to be getting a heck of a lot more now.
Just replaced the bed hand holds with a rack tower so I can carry my canoe/ kayaks and also upgraded the stereo.
So far I love the AV.

Still driving my '02 Avalanche, 85000 miles...never a breakdown, only normal maintenance.

Original owner over 320,000 miles and still kicking. Thought i needed new engine, but put in new plugs and wires and we running good.

I just bought my first Avalanche and it is an '02 2500 with only 56,000 miles.  I am however, the 3rd owner and I realize that's not what's being asked but since it's my first and I'm starting at the beginning . . . . (this is also my first post  since joining the fan club  :B: )

Here's another original owner '02...pewter metallic Z71, tan leather, tinted windows and 138K...wooo hoooo.

I don't remember if I responded to this thread before, but I still own my '02 Av purchased new in Mar. '02. 96,800 mi. But then I still own my '67 Camaro I bought new in '67.

I have a 03 model bought in nov 02 by my father.
Wasn't mine new but still in family.

Bought mine new as a company vehicle in 02, kept it around all these years, stopped using it 5 years ago, sporadically before that. Restoring it now and am excited about it!

15 years 1 month and 19 days, 245,000 plus miles.. Daily driver still going strong..
