How Many And Factories Build The AV.

I was wondering how many factories produce the Avalanche. I know there is one in Mexico but are there others and if so is a certain factory better at quality that poeple have noticed. Any info would be great as I am thinking of purchasing an Avalanche. Thanks

Currently all Avalanches come out of the Silao, Mexico plant. I am not aware of any plans to produce them at any other facility.

I know there was a question like this brought up not to long ago...regarding the Av and it's place of birth in both Mexico and Canada....I believed it was confirmed that every Avalanche in production rolls off the assembly plant in Mexico..stated by Steel above...there are no other sources to verify any other production plants outside of Mehico.....putting the Av on the streets...

Using the VIN decoder for 2000 light duty trucks (works fine for AV's too ) located at http://www.chevy4x4trucks.com/pages/vin2000.html, if the first digit is a "3" it was built in Mexico, a "2" if in Canada. The 11th digit should have a "G" which denotes Silao, Mexico as the assembly plant.

Silao is the ONLY GM plant that produces the Avalanche and the EXT. There are currently no plans to produce them elsewhere. I should know... my wife helped to launch both vehicles!! WOO HOO!!

Not a TOP level executive, but just a good 'ol worker bee that gets treated with a great deal of respect! It helps to have friends in the right places, like executives, engineers, supplier contacts, etc...

Yes, Silano is in Mexico. The EXT & AV are built there.
I'm not sure about the Suburban.

A majority of the components in the Avalanche have 'Made in Canada' stamped on them, but all of the vehicles are assembled in Mexico. Perhaps that is where the confusion began.

Suburbans are built in both Janesville, Wisconsin and Silao, Mexico.

The relationship between the AV and the EXT..is the same with the old Diamond Star Motors..as far as assembly plants....both were almost identical...with differences....and were assembled on lines that basically ran parallel to eachother.....

Now I can remind my pompus EXT freids that the same workers, the same plant and the same care went into our babies-
Just fraternal twins seperated at birth!
One got adopted by the rich white family and the other went to the country, farm owner who raised the av with a tough, but sensible manner!

Another example of this would be one guy took his Ext to Metropolis...and the Av...well he went to Smallville....sorry but I love that show.....
