How Many Avalanche 2500 are here Now, Today?

Here's mine

Hey guys. It's been about 3 months since I posted to all 2500 owners.

I have changed out my alternator with a 145. My old one wasnt charging battery (a 90 stock). Well I also changed out my transfer fuel pump too. Now my throttle body is working at 50%. Does a bad throttle body do harm to any other components? I am going for the install and programming. But I had a 7 hour hike from amarillo tx to Fort collins. It wouldnt perform pass 65 mph. Did anything get damaged or what could have been damaged?

She is dying. Luckily I have some upgrades to give her throughout the year. New transmission (upgraded 4.56 gears), 2500 stall torque converter, Raylar performance kit, and upgraded transfer case with differiential gears. That will cost about $18k. However, I still have to do new steering from super steer, tie rods, wheel bearings, and control arms.

With all these upgrades I should start checking wiring to find any indicators of bad wires.

Has anyone tackled this restoration before to keep their avalanche alive? Any any feed back on throttle body would be very useful.

You need to start another thread in another forum for the problems your having, I know we answered some here before but should not have....

Post here..

I just picked up a '03 2500 and am selling my '05 1500. Couldn't be happier.  :B:

Mighty fine ride...  (y)

Add another to the list. I got a 2004 2500 with 125,000 miles. Just change all shocks with Bilstiens. Rides like a new truck. Will post pics later..

I'm the original owner of a 2002 with 190,000 miles.  I special ordered it and was told by the dealer it was the first 2500 delivered in MN.  This truck is a keeper, it won't be sold or scrapped.

She needs some repair, just rebuilt the tranny, but the motor is still solid.  She has started to show some rust - needs passenger rocker panel repaired/replaced and driver rear fender or 1/4 panel replaced.  I'm going to have my body guy pull all the cladding and go over it with a fine toothed comb and fix (properly) anything that needs it.  Cladding will get painted to match the body - BLACK of course.  While we are at it the frame will cleaned up too.

I'd appreciate any other suggestions on updates I should make!

Count me in! I thought for sure I had posted here, but it after looking, turns out it was the 'the few, the proud, 2500 owners' thread over in "mods".
Picked up an '04 2500 last November, just turning 102K now. Had the typical TPS 'limp-mode' issue a few times. Cleaned the connectors on both ends, and so far ok for the last 4 months. Can't beat the torque, these things could pull 747's around the airport... towing aside, it's got to have the lowest bed height of any 3/4 ton on the road.  A lot of you guys probably frown at this, no lift kit, no big tires. I agree, but to a point.
For me, it's much easier to load heavy gear in the bed, and the lower CG makes for better handling on twisty roads. (keeping the corner exit speed up saves on brake wear)

My 05 is still going. My air bag light just came on and my heated seats have a mind of there own but it still runs like a top.

I'm still here. 187,000 miles. She hasn't seen any major repairs yet.

Just put on these in last 11,000 miles:

Spark plugs/wires/coils
Transfer fuel pump
Throttle body
MAF
Shocks
Front rotors and breaks
Locking gas cap
Intake manifold gasket kit
Oil pressure sensor

Engine is strong. But I'm laughing cuz I have a semi extreme transfer case leak and rear seal to engine leak. And it holds on to gears too long before shift then you feel the clunk after. So looks like at about 190,000 miles I'll be doing a transfer gas rebuild and either a Jasper transmission or a rebuild.

I still am saving for end of year mods. Full Traction lift kit 7.5, 17 inch 4inch offset wheels, 35 inch tires, New front end suspension, and raylar performance kit or a 496 engine from White performance with extreme cam shafts and crank shaft. I want to take all the cladding and x line it, but replace rear bumper with a steel one and x line it.

Does anyone know what the 4x4 2500 transfer case takes for oil? And also what transfer case is in the 2500?

NP246... I just replaced mine a few thousand miles ago; freakin shift pin dropped out on the OE one haha drained all the fluid and lockefd me out.

2 bottles of the special GM stuff... got output shaft seal leaks on the new one; but not stressing it too much; it's a super small seepage.

Hey I'm still here. I upgraded from my 2003 charcoal gray(it was totaled by someone)  to a 2004 Sunburst orange 2500. Found it online, (90 K miles) and had it shipped up from Chattanooga TN to Massachusetts. Had to put about $2500 into it. Front end parts, alignment, tires, fuel pump, battery and new OEM style rims. Took off the 2" rear wheel spacers (for sale if you are interested). Is this site still active?

Thanks! Those are RPO "BVR" Stainless Steel. Wish I still had them... got side-swiped and ruined the one on the right side. They are out of production so had to go with aftermarket... (n)

We just bought our first Avalanche - an '02 2500 w/102k miles on it.  This thing is a beast!
