I have mine now, more on a lark than anything. I loved the concept of the Avalanche when it was first introduced, but I was not enamored at all by the cladding. The introduction of the WBH was a nice idea to me, however I never saw one other than in pictures. Not many at all in this area. I've had 4 Tahoes prior to this, latest being an '02. It had just hit 32K miles, warranty fast running out, needed tires and thus new wheels to get to a wider tire size, brakes, etc. Extending warranty and taking care of the other issues would have led to almost $3K out of pocket. With the incentives now, might be worth dumping it. On a lark, I called my fleet rep at the dealer and had him spec me an Avalanche over the phone. Invoice price sounded REAL good, so I had him run a locate on one in either black or red with the options I wanted. Closest he found was an "In Transit" unit to Miami, no guarantee it was available. Having to do this by end of month, ordering was out of the question - and normally I order, don't buy off the lot. I hit gmbuypower.com and did my own locates, and right on my own dealer's lot was a red WBH Z66 - it just had the sunroof and roof rack which I had said no to earlier. Wife thought the sunroof might be nice. We had never driven one or even sat in one, so Saturday morning we buzzed down to take a look and drive one - obviously almost identical inside to our Tahoe. Drive went exceptionally well, walked back in with the keys and tossed them down and said "Have it ready for pickup on Monday"
To help break up the large red mass that makes up the WBH, I've added a small amount of striping thus far, tailgate lettering and I have the Suburban LT body side moldings enroute. They should be in my hands Monday, at which time I'll paint them and slap them on.
Basic specs - Z66 1500, Victory Red, sunroof, roof rack, graphite, driver convenience package, etc. No DVD, obviously, no flares/body sides.
It'll be used as a daily business vehicle, towing show cars on occasion, and hauling mulch, etc
