How Much Should A Body Lift Cost?

I really want to get a body lift (OK I really want the suspension list - but I definitely cant afford it) however I have no idea what one of these should cost. There's not a chance that I could buy the parts and do it myself. I got a quote for a 3in lift complete - parts / labor for $900. Does this sound about right or are they trying to take me for a ride?

Thanks

Hmmmm,

I was at Lift Kit Warehouse in Antioch CA, and I heard them quote a guy about $600 for a 3" body lift installed.

$900 definitely sounds high to me. Be sure to check around lots of places do those things. Only problem will be your tow hooks in front. Bumper will have to be mod'd for that. Several Members have gone with the body lift I believe. Hopefully they will respond to this post.

Personally I got a suspension lift.

Hey guys, 900.00 is too high!!!! The kit itself is only about $100.00. It $500.00 in labor that is so bad. I've checked into this myself and found that the front end where the hooks are might have to be trimmed and you also need the rear bumper bracket. The jury is still out on how much needs to be cut on in the rear. The thing that has turned me off with the body lift is the amount of frame is going to show. But it's still cheaper the $1900.00 for the suspension lift though. Good luck with what you choose. the Dave

I paid almost $300 for the kit plus $200 for labor for mine.

A friend of a friend has an acct and a super deal with 4wheelparts.com. I did the 3" body lift and 33x12.50x17 pro-comp tires, keeping my stock rims.

check around, you could get it a lot cheaper, but make sure it's done right.

I loved mine. even thought it's only a Z66. ?>:D

good luck with yours. let me know how I can help.

Wow, how did it cost that much? I got one for my 99 Silverado about 3.5 years ago and it was under $300 including gap guards. It was a Performance Accesories.

The place by me wanted 300 for the kit plus 600 to install...I paid 260 and installed it myself.

SimTechRay, after seeing your AV and Speeder's at the Delaware GTG, I am seriously considering the PA 3" kit. You said you installed it yourself, any chance if I get the cash together you would consider coming back down to help put one on the Rescue?

I have to be honest I fell in love with Speeders set up. The lift, the level stance, the tire combo, etc. I would have to live with the Wrangler's for now, but when they where out.... >:D

It won't happen in the next month or so, but Christmas is coming... Honey....... Oh dear... >:D >:D

I might be willin to give a hand...or at least send some pics that look like something, unlike the ones that are in the instructions for the body lift...
Speeder's set up isn't a stock body lift though. His torsion bars have been altered by the shop that did his lift to get the truck level. He said the man told him they were turned 2 1/2 times. I've been experimenting with this lately and I feel his were turned much more than 2.5 times. At the time of the meet I didn't know where the adjustment was so I couldn't verify it in person.
Speeder, I remember you saying something about your steering, send me an IM, I might know the answer.

Are there any pics of speeders av somewhere so I can see what his body lift looks like?

The original post was 5 years ago...I think he made his decision by now :D

the shop i took mine to said lifts are are much as you want to spend . he had a kit that was $14k . another shop quoted me $1500 for a 3inch lift and $2500 for 6 inch lift.

I paid 300 for the kit and 300 for an air compressor that I used to install the kit.  In the end I got three inches of lift and some air tools    :B:
