Compared to the Cadillac Escalade - the Hummer H2 is BARGAIN with a base price of $48,800. Only two option packages available.

Also interesting - the H2 is going to share a lot of Avalanche colors including Sage Green, Sunset Orange, Victory Red, and Pewter.

Here is the scoop...

Thanks for the interesting read Chief....I like the design behind the H2....very rugged looking rig....price tag still a little out of my reach... :B:

Nice, I wanted a real one, my better half said no, too ostentatious, too wide and too high, so I got my AV ;D

I'm willing to bet you don't regret it either.... :B:

Interesting to note that the Escalade's 6.0 generates 345hp and 380ft-lbs of torque and the Denali's 6.0 generates 320hp and 365ft-lbs of torque compared to the H2's 316hp and 360ft-lbs of torque. I would have thought a 6400lb SUV would have a little more. Perhaps the big block 8.1 or Duramax Diesel would be a better match. http://www.hummer.com/flash.html

That is strange. I wonder why the H2 gets a detuned motor?

Chief your just a bastion of knowledge.

In terms of getting a "Detuned" 6.0 liter. I bet that has to do with the tire size. Keep in mind there are two types of Horsepower. There is Horsepower at the rear wheels and horsepower at the crank. The difference represents the amount lost due to tire size, tranny, vehicle configuration. I doubt that there are any fundermental differences between the 6.0 on the H2 and the one that comes with the EXP. If they had purposely decreased HP then you would probably see an increase in Torgue. The same appiles vise versa. I am pretty sure thats how it works anyway!!

Saw one for the first time last Monday on Hwy 283(?) in Kansas or Nebraska. Looked to be pulling a horse trailer... maybe a race trailer.

You can easily bump the Denali's 6.0 liter to the cadi's h/p. I think it's as easy as just reprograming the computer or adding a chip. I personnaly would rather have the 6.0 liter then the 496. The 496 is fun but a higher RPM aluminum engine with 350 h/p would be a lot of fun. Isn't the 6.0 a bigger LS1? Too bad we have to chose between the smaller 5.3 and the heavy 8.1. Did you guys know that GM sells a 8.2liter crate motor that comes stock with 502 horsepower? I'm sure it dosen't meet emisions but that beast would be very fun.

Let's watch that "heavy 8.1L" stuff - the 8.1L is essentially a tame, street version of the crate engine which is used with dual superchargers pairs for racing boats ;D
