I have been around here for a while, but this is my first thread started. I recently bought the max energy for my 2002 2500 Avalanche and I am trying to find the best setup. I also need to know what the stock rev limiter and stock speed restriction is set at and what some of you have changed yours to. Also curious about the shift firmness and shift points.

Any info would be appreciated.

I was going to buy one from my friend so I installed it for about a month and tried different settings.  I believe the rev limiter is at 5800 rpm factory and the top speed is at like 94 mph.  I set the rev at 6000 and then took the speed limiter off.  Set the shift points at 1-2 +300 2-3 +300 and 3-4 +200 and did the shift firmness option.  It made it quit a bit faster when you go from a stop with the petal to the floor.  I think it was shifting from 2nd to 3rd at about 90 mph.  I was looking for a good setting myself to save gas after playing.  I live in Iowa and it will be snowing soon so I wanted to set it for the best fuel saving settings....until next summer! Thanks for that bit info I just put it in today and tried one program on regular and I will try premium tomorrow since i need gas anyways. and I think I'm going to bump up the RPMs on the shift points, I had it set on a 50% increase shift firmness

The max I would set my revs at is 5400. The other poster has a 5.3 and that engine is built to rev, our Big Block is not. You will run into valve float at 5800.

The Hypertech will give you added power and brathing from 4-5 k rpms. but 5 k is all you need on the big block.

I had mine set at 6 but changing that as soon as I put the premium fuel map on it.  Since I have 3.73 gears and slightly bigger than stock tires I bumped the 1-2 shift up 200 rpms and same with 2-3, and 3-4. It really seems as if it drives like it did with the stock size tires and no programmer

As observed on the dyno here: http://chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php/topic,120446.0/all.html , you're already starting to fall off on the power curve after 4500, so live Avalon said, you don't need more than 5,000RPM as your limiter - going higher could be be detrimental since you'll be making less power at say 5400rpm than you would be at 3500rpm.

I got tired of using a Garmin to know my speed, so I purchased one of these Max Energy Hypertechs to compensate. I selected the regular fuel tune and did not raise any of the rpm settings. Holy crap did it add off the line power. I can't seem to keep anything in the dash cubby holes now....

Bought a cheap used one for our Suburban for the same reason.
