Well just got the Hypertech programmer in the mail and flashed my 1st tune w/in 15min lol  Unlike the HP Tuner software I had on the 02, this programmer is Super easy.

Using the ODB Port I flashed the following;

Performance Tuning SHOULD add  +28HP / +25TQ

-Premium Octane: 91

-Transmission Tuning

-Shift Firmness to 100%
1-2 Shift Point +100 RPM
2-3 Shift Point +100 RPM
3-4 Shift Point +100 RPM
4-5 Shift Point +100 RPM
5-6 Shift Point +100 RPM

-Top Speed Limiter set 112

-Rev Limiter Adjustment

-Rev Limit +200

-Disable Active Fuel Management System

-Set Gear Ratio to 3.42 as confirmed by the GU6 code found in the glove box

Took it for a quick spin and you can tell the shifts are more crisp.  Will update on MPG over the next few days

I wanted to add Hypertech offers their React Tuning Optimizer which allows you to develop custom pedal curves to customize your throttle response even more.  Little more involved just like HP Tuner software (y)

I've been looking for a tuner for my 2010 Avy, and I'm confused on which one will work, I've been reading all of the reviews and they all seem to have flaws. I'm curious about how well this one is. Please update this when you get a chance. Thanks

I haven't tried the Hypertech, but I've been happy with the Diablosport 8245. I had it custom tuned (ECM & TCM) by Lew at Diablewtune https://www.diablewtune.com/ , which is installed through the 8245 tuner.

I severely disliked the stock transmission tune, it would shift from 6th to 3rd to maintain cruise-controlled speed when beginning an incline. Skipping 2 gears to go from 1700rpm to 4200rpm made no sense to me...

This especially drove me nuts when visiting family in the rolling hills of Missouri, I would manually downshift via the drive selector switch to avoid the 6-3 shift on every hill. Missouri is full of hills... The new custom tune uses 5th and 4th gear when downshifting from cruise as appropriate and is much more responsive to throttle in general.

Thanks for the tip, my Avy acts exactly like yours did, I towed a small trailer from Cincinnati to Virginia Beach and I thought I was going to blow it up on the hills, I'm going to order mine today and I'll post on here about my experience with it. Keeping my fingers crossed!

i may have missed it somewhere, but does the Hypertech Programmer, or any of the programmers allow for correction of the speedometer? mine is about 5mph slow with the 295 tires that came on it from previous owner. i want to add the performance of a programmer as well.

I have the Diablo Predator 2, it will program the speedometer based on the tire size, it will also tune the engine, transmission, read and delete codes, bypass the DOD and tune the computer for towing and performance. I love it!

Thanks for the info I really appreciate it. Does it give a noticeable performance gain? also will it help after adding mods such as, cold air intake, exhaust? I was thinking of long tube headers as well possibly.

It has different tunes in it that Diablo installed, I was using the 93 octane tune, purchasing regular unleaded and putting in an octane booster and it works great! It's definitely noticeable power, it also changes the transmission shifting to shift a little harder, but you can also go online and buy different types of tunes and download them into the Predator and get what ever you want your truck to do. They have different programs on their website. And they give you free updates on the Predator when they are available. All you do is plug it into a laptop and search for updates and it will install it. The last one I installed made the transmission shift a little harder and it would wind out a little more before it shifted. If it wasn't for the big off road tires I have on there it would chirp in 3rd gear. Right now if I keep in the throttle I can chirp 2nd.
