I’d like to find a grill for my 02

I can’t seem to find a grill that isn’t chrome that will fit my 02. Anybody know if anything? I can find pretty much anything I want for 03 and up. I’d like to put a bumper on her and add a winch but can’t seem to find one of those either.

I'm sure you realize this but problem is the age and rarity of a cladded AV. Most accessories are for the WBH which wasn't available in 2002.
some members just paint or powdercoat the grill they have. As far as off-road bumpers with a winch your best bet is to contact a large bumper company and see if they can custom make a setup for you. Several of those companies made bumpers for a cladded AV back in the day but since they haven't been made since 2006 the bumper companies probably don't sell many of them today but maybe they still have the plans etc.
Problem is the older AVs go for so little and "new owners" only spend a few grand to buy them so most don't see the sense to spend as much for the bumper or other mods as what they paid for the whole AV. To me it depends on the owner and what they are willing to spend it's still cheaper then buying a new full size truck.

You could try vinyl wrap for the chrome bar. I bought some off Amazon and changed the plastic bowtie to a metal chrome one so it'll contrast sharply. Just haven't gotten around to wrapping it yet.
I think Vaeagleav is right about the availability of stuff like this for the Av.

On my '04 it looks like I'd have to sacrifice the tow hooks to add a bull bar. I found an aluminum one for $30 that just needs a little tweeking to fit and looks good. No mount for winch but I dont think its a good idea to add a lot of weight to the front end unless you really need it. I do off-roading but I try not to get into trouble ;) I just need a bit more protection and not build a tank. My Av's history report shows it smoked an animal on the drivers side causing $2000 damage so an off-road bumper would have helped. Not sure what all was repaired but I cant even tell except the head lights are newer.
Remember when we just mounted the spare tire on the front of our trucks?

I painted my chrome with plastidip and put a vinyl wrap on the bow tie

as far as I know, nobody sells a printable shell...even the new ones are chrome

Got a pic of it? I’d like to see how it looks.

I like it! That’s all I’m really looking for. I just want to get rid of the chrome. Not a fan at all. Good looking truck you got there

thank you. ya, it's a quick, easy, cost effective way to black out that ugly chrome. I'm actually putting in a light bar this week and will be repainting the dip, this time with more than 2 coats lol

Sweet. What kinda light bar are you installing? Gonna put her in front of the grill or above the windshield? I’ve got a 52” above the windshield and it lights up the world. I love it.

actually went with a 30" to fit behind the grill...hope it works out. also found a decent way to fit some cube lights in the rear cladded bumper, I'll send ya a link when I get everything installed with wiring. going out of town this weekend so I'm gonna be a little limited

I’ve got 4” flush Mount lights for my bumper but haven’t installed them yet. Let me know how that goes. I’ve been a little scared to undertake that task.

yup once u slice that plastic there is no going back 😂

oh also, MOVE makes a put together kit for a heavy duty front bumper. but imo, very few of the cladded trucks can pull that look off. it either looks too bulky or looks out of place

I’ve never thought of putting them in that location. I was thinking the main bumper. Heck I was about to cut holes in the metal as well. That’s something to think about. I’m glad I waited. Do you have them connected to the reverse lights or do you have them on a toggle switch?

they will be connected to a toggle. I don't want to blind people backing out of HEB lol.

but yes, in the middle area of the bumper is where I wanted them originally. I think it can be done with a Sawzall or something, but another thing to consider is where u would mount them, there is a spacing between the plastic and the metal brace behind it. so u would have to put some spacers to make it sit entirely flush back there.

these are the rocker switches I will use

My switch to my front light bar is similar to yours. Do you have right and left on separate switches? Or maybe just more lights? I’m thinking I’m going to go ahead and space them evenly on the rear bumper itself. I tend to drag the area that yours are mounted to once in a while. I’d hate to have to redo the wiring all the time.

I have the front light bar wired to the light bar switch, and both rear cubes wired together to the rear lights switch.

make sure to take pics and report back how yours turn out. like I said, it's doable but you will have to get a little creative with the mounting and filling in the gap behind the plastic and in front of the metal. I think they would look so clean there

Try some of the GM parts dealers on the internet. GM Parts Direct had one available the last time I looked in January. I think the cost was about $250 or so.

but I believe they come I'm chrome. I don't think I've ever seen a paintable one for sale, which is a bummer. chrome has no business on some of these avalanches, body color is the way to go!

Being an older fart, I like the chrome. :) My front grille chrome (which really isn't chrome anyways) is peeling. I'll rattle-can it grey or silver.
