Well, I just got back from a 4.5 day trip from North Florida to the Southern Most Point in Key West and back again. The purpose of the trip was to move my grandfather's belongings closer to where he wants to live (Stuart,FL) and start his retirement after he recovers from his recent battle with cancer.
We left Wednesday and that's when I began counting AVs. This task was a cool way to add some excitement to a trip that was filled with back-breaking work. We had to rent a large Penkse truck, plus my AV and my grandfather's Suburban to get all the stuff from Key West.
Over the days, I counted over 60 Avs/EXTs and I was able to tag 4. I saw 2 AVs with Amber DRLs: First one was on Friday on the Sawgrass Expressway at about 3:30p. Second one was Saturday in Stuart on US1 around Noon (he had an empty boat trailer behind him).
I would say that almost half of the AVs that I saw were hauling/towing something, whether it be a boat or a enclosed trailer. The AV owners were taking advantage of the versatility of the truck, it was great to see.
What I was surprised to see was how many H2s were in the Keys. They were everywhere. Tricked out or not, they were about 1 out of every 15 vehicles. But when we got back to the mainland, I didn't see nearly as many.
The goal of the trip was successfully completed I'm exhausted. Seeing so many AVs on the road was probably the most fun I had on the trip! Now if I can just find those two guys with Ambers!
Did anybody see me?
