Anyone willing to email back and forth with me a bit. I would like to chat about the area, real estate, jobs, etc... Thanks. mcne2026@aol.com

I am 35, almost married and have 4 dogs. We are trying for kids. I am a computer person, specifically LAN's and WAN's. Microsoft or Novell. My better half is senior management in manufacturing.  We will have at least $400k in equity when we sell the house here in California. We would like to pay cash and have no mortgage. At least 1 acre but more would be great. I don't want to commute more than 45 to 60 minutes each way. Any suggestions on cities to look at?

Robert, If you search for the cheapest place to live, Tax, etc. Look at Wyoming!

Search some retirement sites, they sometimes have tax & demographics comparisons of areas.

I plan to snowbird between there and maybe So. Nevada, unless the prop values go way too high.

I have other alternatives too.

A friend of mine has it made in ID. Lives in the area of Cocalla & Sandpoint and works in Anaheim, CA! Interesting telecommute. PC Board Gerber files via the internet. Paycheck by wire.

I would Check In Boise, Corde lane or Sand Point. Also you can live in Corde lane and commute to Seattle. I believe it is like an hour. I live in Chubbuck, which is next to Pocatello. I am also a IT Tech specializing in project Management. Dont expect to get paid more than 10-12 an hour out here. If you have 400k in equity you can buy a sweet home with plenty of land and have a lot of cash left over.

Shane, Don't you meen SPOKANE...?  I do agree with you on the IT part.  If you want to talk about Idaho AV King, come see me, Im in L.A. or hit me up on the web, I spent 25 years there.  Pocatello mostly, but Boise, Twin Falls, Idaho Falls, even spent time up north as well.

Hey raceghost,
If you lived in Poky for long (I'm still dealing with the mental bagage of living there twice, a total of 23 yrs.) then you know how easy it is to be confused by the stagnant and toxic clouds there, and I dont just mean from the Phos plants, so we have to give Shane a break for toughing it out!

My bad you are right it is Spokane. I could use all the help possible up here trying to get members together for a GTG. They seem to be few and far between. I would drive to L.A. accept it is about 14 hours out of my way. Maybe next spring when i drive out to Coarsegold to visit my mom we can hook up. Maybe get a bunch of members from the South Valley for a GTG. Yosemite would be nice.

If you are thinking Idaho now is a great time to buy.  The housing market is saturated her in Meridian (just outside of Boise).  There are even several builders that are offering to pay your first 6 mos. house payment.  Speak with a realtor - it is a buyers market, some sellers are getting desperate.

We ended up buying a small ranch between Idaho City and Boise. Right around mm22 on Idaho 21. Meridian was a little to city for us and we will probably commute to Micron. Thanks all.

Well let me just say WELCOME to Idaho. We have a few members in the Boise area so I think a GTG this spring in or around Boise would be a must have. I really like the Orofino area.

Anyone interested let me know.

Shane
