I'm planning on buying a Flowmaster 40 Dual muffler (2.25" out). The stock muffler is 3" in, right? Thanks.

the stock muffler is 2-3/4" in I believe. Some change this pipe to 3".

To match the 3" in on the FM. (y)

correct the stock pipe is 2 3/4" in and out of the stock muffler. I have the Flowmaster Del;ta Flow 40 series and got the 3" in/ 3" ouch single pipe muffler. Had the shop just weld it up. Sounds sweet.

Like Bonedog, I also have 3'' from the cats back and 3" out to the tail pipes....Nothing sweeter sounding than #40's with true Dual.

I had this custom made by a muffler shop here in Jacksonville. It's a little tricky with 3", but he's a magician with his welder and pipe bending.

Good Luck,

Bill I still want to hear your rig with true duals and especially true dual 40's!! Maybe in April when i go to my house in FL I will make the trip north to Jax to hear it. Add headers to the DF40 and it is a beast. Can't wait till me full lengths get ordered >:D

Bone dog,

10-4 on that...That would be awesome. Let know when your coming into town and we'll get together.

I know what you mean about the headers...Oh my God!!!...I can't wait...That's if Manny ever does sell his, I'll put them on as soon as I get them. If he ends up keeping them and fixing his AV, I'm just going to have to go out and get my own...Probably either the TOGS or the Edelbrock's (ceramic) like Manny's

See ya soon,

you could always run a single 4.5 >:D
(could not run a dual setup with the drop kit) Very unhappy at the time, but it is working/sounding great... And it's a real jaw dropper when it fires up.
Only problem is, when it is -25 here and I stomp on it at a green light, all the folks behind me have to wait a bit till they can see. ;)

SWEET RIDE!!! Love the sound of old muscle especially when they run headers with glasspacks >:D

Friend had a '57 Chevy 283 with 2 4bbl's and glasspacks. Coming at ya all you heard was the 2 4's. Going away all you heard was glasspack. HmmHmmmHmmm!
And tell you what, my '99 Sierra with 4.8, Airaid, and FM 50 came close to the sound at WOT.

Are any of you guys that are running the duels or the bigger single having a loss of torque? I read in other threds that you need to keep something close to the stock backpressure or you will notice this loss, especially if you are pulling a load.

Butch,

IMO...I have learned that is a myth...In fact the computer system compensates for the loss and adjusts for that.

I have True 3" Duals and I tow my Boat a lot and I have never ever felt any loss of power from my AV. IMHO...I feel I have more, but that might also be coming from the HyperTech, but certainly no loss at all. Now again, this is all hear say so I can't prove any facts other than my own experience...Just what I've been told.
