Like some, we've been fighting bed leaks and the darn "wind flapping" noise on the passenger side radiating from the dash up to the top of the A pillar on LTZ's with sun roofs.  After talking with a past GM technician in which over and above electrical was the go to guy for squeaks & rattles he gave me advice on finding the source of the rattle starting point vs the end of where you hear it.  Yes, I've done all I read here on hoses, hvac issues, inner fender well rattles, etc.  Did it all..........

To get to the point, here is what i did.
*I noticed the under hood insulation mat was loose and not secured on the edges and looked "floppy". I ensured all retaining tabs were secured and then sealed the edges of the mat to the hood. You'll have to do a little cleaning on both to get a good seal and then check on it now and then.  I used gorilla tape.

* I then found the tranny dip stick was in a position in which based on head wind or cross wind scenarios it had the possibility of tapping against the firewall.  I re-positioned the top fastener to keep it from that area and will lightly tie wrap it out of the way.

* Then I moved the front horizontal luggage rack one notch back further away from the sunroof.

So far folks it has not rattled in a head wind, cross wind, etc.  It may help or not if you have the issue.  All it's going to cost you is about 10 minutes and a few feet of gorilla tape.

Thanks all !

Is the fix still holding strong Stan? Was the luggage rack loose, is that why you adjusted it?

Nope, it wasn't loose I just looked at it as an fixed wing aircraft.......the bottom side of the rack appears to be flatter than the top, creating a type of "lift" like planes taking off..  Just a guess that this type of aerodynamic lift may be affecting the sunroof creating some type of vacuum or something.  I just pushed in the adjuster on each side of the rack and moved it back one position further from the glass.  The  under hood gorilla tape securing the insulation to the hood and maybe that little adjustment to the tranny dipstick to move it from hitting the firewall has so far proven to be the flapping noise fix.  Go figure, maybe a combination or one of the items did it.  So far so good.  I hope this may be a fix for some of you out there.  Thanks

thanks for the reply, chasing a bit of wind noise myself and I'll check what you mentioned

My 07 without a sunroof makes a tappingmnoise on the passenger side A pillar as well, discovered it was the rubber seal on the outer edge of the windshield.  Cleaned it and gently pried it up a bit and put some rhino snot under it, all quiet now.  Just a thought.  Oh and for those that may not know, rhino snot is silicone lol.
