I Want Automatic Climate Control

I have a 2003 1500 2wd Avi, base model.
I really want the 2003 Automatic Climate control.
I'm sure there is more to it than just swaping contol panels.
How can I do it?

i havent done that yet, but looking at the manual.... you should be able to swap the control, 1 harness and another sensor (in the duct) and you have it.

My wife's has automatic climate control and mine is manual. I don't like the automatic - we're still trying to figure out how to get it to do what we want. When the 6-year-old says "Daddy, I feel sick!" you want the fan running NOW!

I too have the Auto Climate Control and do not care for it much. If you set a certain temp - the fan blows near max. The display for the "A/C ON" is nothing. For "A/C OFF" a snowflake shows in display with line going through it. For first two weeks I had the truck I ran A/C on. I'd rather have slide controls for temp vs. number degree temp - is 75 warm or cold???? Keep what you have - you will be happier. :B:

I have the 2002 version of the auto climate control, and I love it. Generally I never have to touch it, except to tweak the temperature on a rare occasion. Or I manually change the fan speed on an even rarer occasion.

My only real gripe with it is in the winter, the windshield tends to fog up easily, making me switch the vent control from auto to defrost. Now if it only had a fog sensor for the windshield... :p

Are the plugs on the panel the same?
Does the sensor just plug into the back of the auto panel?

dose anyone now the part numbers for the harness or the sensor, i have the unit on the way! and looking for a clean and simple install :) ty

I have the auto control and I can never find one setting that makes me comfortable. I have had auto temp in other vehicles with the same results. To me the manual systems are easier to get where you want them.

I hate the electronic auto climate control. It thinks it knows better than you. I set the thing on recirculate which blows out the coldest and highest volume of air. I get out of my car to get gas, get back in, crank up and the damn thing is reset back to fresh air. When I set my settings, I want them where I put them. I don't like GM thinking they know more about how I like my controls set than I do. I also hate that the Auto AC fan is agonizingly slow. With the manual dial it is instant AC, with the Auto it is wait 20 or 30 seconds and I will get up to speed.

I like the dual climate control, but hate the electronic B.S.
FWIW, I had a Nissan Pathfinder and it worked the same sucky way.
