I went to fill up with gas. While filling the tank gas started pouring out from under the truck. Any suggestions on where to start?

Thanks

Can you tell if it was leaking towards the front or the rear of the truck? You may need to crawl under and check. Could be a split in the filler hose that goes to the tank or it could be a rusted tank.

I agree with frito, until you crawl under and see where it's coming from it would just be a guess as to what to repair or replace.

On my 2002 and 2005 the tank is poly, on my 2005 av when I got close to full gas would pour out under my tank and everyone told me it was probably split, it was that the fuel tank vapor sensor popped off its held in by a grommet so I put in a new one and it doesn't do it anymore

Hopefully its just the rubber filler hose. You should be able to see it from under the back of the truck. Keep us posted

Like boogie said, fill hose would be my guess too. But like frito and vaeagle said, won't know until you crawl under!

When mine leaked from the top of the tank, it was like Avalancedfw said...Sensor at the top of the tank had come out. It required dropping the tank to get to. I also had CEL code when that happened...went away after the fix.

There is definitely a bad spot on the Lower Fuel Tank Vent Hose. Looks like it would be a 15-minute job if there were no obstructions. My big arms and hands will have problems for sure. Any tips? It is item 18.

Hose number 18 is pretty stiff but I'm sure you can muscle it out. Make sure to un-seize it from the tank and metal tube first. But if that doesn't work out you might need to drop the tank which is not that difficult (I did it twice this month) since you are just lowering the backside only. If you do decide to lower the tank undo the clamps holding #18 and disconnect #19. Then place a jack stand under the rear part of tank and either another jack stand in the front of the tank or use straps to hold it up. Undo the 2 straps securing the tank then slowly lower the back of the tank while working tube #18 loose. Once the tank is low enough the tube should slide off either the tank or the metal tube.
Also not sure what year your truck is. But #18 is a special tube that flares out on one side.
