Hey guys and gals,

It is time to start thinking about the East Coast Regional Meet again. I know it seems like we just finished up with the first one, but planning is everything on these events, and I need the input of all members who are even thinking of attending to let me know some stuff.

First of all, where would you like to try to have the event. Pigeon Forge was fun, but there are other places. Mary Willis from the Holiday Inn called me and personally invited us back if we want to go. She said we were one of the best behaved car clubs she has had......she obviously didn't hear about the parking lot party!!! Myrtle Beach was talked about alot too for a ECRM II. I checked that area out and it will really be a great place with a TON OF STUFF to do!!!!

Basiclly I need ideas on where to have it, and what things you would like to do. I know from the first ECRM that offroading is a BIG DEAL to some and a MUST HAVE!!! *cough* Conway *cough*

Voice your opinions now, and later on, we will put up polls and move on with putting people in place for "Work to be done"!!!!! This years ECRM team looks to be a great one and we hope to have a LARGE turnout for this event.

Just like last year.............it is the people that show up that make the event special!!!

LETS GET IT ON!!

Sounds like a plan! The sooner we know, the better chance we have of making it in '04! (y)

Beach......ahhhhhhhh, with lots of foo foo drinks! >:D

OBX is my offering?
Nerver been there, lots of beaches, dunes and country to off road in.

For us, Pigeon Forge was great because it wasn't too far, and we already have a place to stay. Pensacola is great for those from the south, but for us here in the midwest, it is almost twice as far as Pigeon Forge, and I'm sure it would be a long drive for those coming from the northern part of the east coast. Myrtle Beach may be about as far for us as Pensacola, but it would be more convenient for most of the northern folks. Maybe Atlantic City would be interesting. We could likely get more folks from up the coast involved, and hopefully break our own record number of AVs!

Well, no matter where it is SOMEONE will have to drive far....if it's me, that's cool, people usually caravan and pick up members along the way.

I'm going to Savannah and looking at about a 20 hour drive (luckily it's broken up to pick up members)....but it's cool...I've never been there and I can't wait to go!

Oh yeah, almost forgot, Wiki, ya gotta get Tinman in on it ya know, let Conway run the offroading part....and we ALL can handle the PAR-TAY part! >:D

Conway is official off road KING! I have already looked long and hard at Myrtle Beach, and it has SOOOO MUCH fun stuff it will make your head spin!! :2: :2: I spent 2 weeks there one year and never got around to seeing everything.....food, games, stores, BEACH BEACH BEACH, nightlife out the yingyang, Golf, trails, history, FOOD.....did I mention food yet.

Keep the ideas comming! Beach is in the running, but that can change quickly!

Kim is right. Anywhere we plan this, someone will have to drive far. I just need to have it planned sortta close so I can go scout it out and plan things with my "ECRM TEAM OF PROFESIONALS" ....PlanetAV, Tinman, Conway, and anyone else who wants to work their bunns off!!!!!

Point taken!!! Should we plan a "Parking Lot" event.........or just let it happen like it did at the first ECRM!!

Well, I'm willing to offer up Nashville. We've got great things to do around here. There are great side trips availible (Corvette Plant, Saturn Plant, Lynchburg, TN Aquarium, Grand Ole Opry, etc.) as well as off-roading. There's the nights in the clubs downtown and great space for large groups to meet and stay like Gaylord Opryland Hotel. Granted, we don't have a beach...but there's a nice lake ;D
Nashville is really centrally located for members in the Eastern half of the US. We're where I-40, I-24 and I-65 meet.

I know the last ECRM was in TN...but I'm just offering a better part of TN! Nashville's nothing like Pigeon Forge.

Just throwing it out there...

There are SOOOOO many great places on the East Coast to hold the ECRII.
Myrtle Beach, Outer Banks, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, VA, Nashville, Charleston, Savannah, Orlando, etc...
But we have to keep in mind the drive times vs. vacation times for folks. People don't want to spend 2-4 days driving if they only have 1 week of vacation time.
Myrtle Beach, Outer Banks, or Virginia Beach seem to be the middle of the road for most folks (looking at a map). They all have their pluses, and minuses.

1. Myrtle Beach has everything, except the offroad part. Some locals might know of a few beach/mudbog type places. But for the most part, cars on the beach are a BIG no-no.
2. Outer Banks has the offroading (beach driving at it's best), lots of FANTASTIC saltwater fishing, great seafood, but not a lot to do for the wives (shopping). OBX is a pretty remote area. which can be a great asset.
3. Virginia beach...never been there. Someone else will have to throw out input on this area.

My vote is Myrtle Beach.
I'll be working on sponsorships, raffle donations, possible a vendor mini-trade show, t-shirts, etc...

Count me in on the planning of this one as well.

Just my $.02 here.

It sounds like Savannah will be on a similar scale as the ECR's and it'll be in the south-east on the coast. Because of this I would suggest against another beach event for the ECR 2.

There are a lot of people that were too far north to get to Pigeon Forge. If we have it even further south than Pigeon Forge we'll lose even more members, but probably gain a few from Florida.

The Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan area also has a lot of members, few of which went to Pigeon Forge. There are also good groups in PA, NJ, NY and the New England area.

I would really like to see the next ECR a little further north... nothing extreme, but in either Kentucky, West Virginia or the western side of Virginia.

The year after something further south like Myrtle Beach would be great, IMHO. I'd just like to see it moved around enough to let as many different people as possible be able to attend. Maybe not every year but maybe at least every other year.

Other option, which I also think would work well, would be to have a SouthEastern Regional and a NorthEastern Regional. Portland Maine to Miami Florida is 1600 miles, even if you had an event half way in between I think it would be rare to have members at either end be able to attend.

If you split that 1600 miles in half though, you could have a meet in PA and one in SC and hit the middle of both groups. The people in the middle could probably do both easily. Could also use the weather to our advantage and do them 6 months apart. SouthEast Regional in the Winter/Spring. NorthEast Regional in the Summer/Fall.

Not everyone is going to want to use up their warranty driving to Regional meets. Just my $.02.

Atlantic City sounds like a good idea to me ;D
Beach, Food, Casino's, FREE DRINKS, Casino's, FREE DRINKS, board walk, seafood, Casino's and a bunch of FREE DRINKS >:D We can even see if they have a drive through Chapel for the Bling Bling Twosome :2: >:D

No one has mentioned our beautiful Nations Capital yet?
However that could spark some political debate. >:D

Kim,
Is that REALLY possible?

You should be in charge of the foo-foo drinks for each evening...

What if we actually had the ECRM "sponsored by" a local chapter and it rotates every year or however often it happens. That way maybe a local coordinator could be the runner and scouter, idea person and host to the larger planning team when they needed to come in to town. The local coordinator may have a better idea on things to do and timing of events and special events that the planning group may not get on their one or two visits. Also the burden is spread outside a planning group and the club members get to visit a sponsoring town where there is a local chapter. Plus it could bring more of the lurking locals out to meet the group. Each chapter could put their own little "flavor" to the meet too.

The local coordinators who wanted to have their chapter sponsor would just put thier name in a hat and have it drawn. Like the Olympics. We did this in scouts too, way back when, visiting other scout camps for an annual meeting hosted by a particular camp and it worked really well.

Just another idea.

My family and I took a chance one year at changing our vacation plans from Myrtle Beach to Virginia Beach one year. Hmmmmmmm, how can I say this nicely......well......lets just say she made us check out 4 days early loose a ton of money and go to Myrtle Beach instead!! It was not a good experience since Myrtle Beach SPOILED US. If you haven't been to Myrtle Beach....your missing out!!

Keep the talking going!! Good ideas so far.....lets just remember that everyone has an opinion, and that is OK. That is what this thread is for!!!!!

I'll second EarthQuake for Nashville. I used to go there for business once a year and always loved it. The Opryland Hotel is so huge that you can't get lost and not be seen for a week. It alone is worth the trip, it is one of the best hotel in the country IMHO

I've been to Virginia Beach for business, and have driven through Myrtle Beach. I wasn't that impressed with Virginia Beach, but Myrtle Beach did look like it would be fun. Kentucky is awfully convenient for me though!
