IDEAS for 2004 East Coast Regional Meet

Checking in from NE here and all I can say after rading this thread is WHEW!.
This is something we would definitely love to attend, 1st vote Myrtle Beach, 2nd vote Nashville.
As far as time of the event, from what I've seen from reading threads of other GTGs, coordinators will drive themselves crazy trying to satisfy everyone. :E:
Just my .02 - if an event is going to be held annually, I think that maybe it could be in the same month but shifted slightly from year to year. The same could be true for location.
Just my other .02 - this is a fairly new club, that is growing. Since the Av seems to be a pretty succesful endeavor for GM, I don't see it going away in the near future. This being the case maybe a national commitee of coordinators and key individuals needs to be assembled. This would allow the country to be divided into sections for multi regional meets. I think 3-4 would be sufficient. Within these "super regions", one individual region could host on a rotating basis (this is a great idea that was already brought up in this thread, I'm not sure who and I'm pressed for time right now - just want to make sure that they get the credit for this great idea).
As this person said, this would allow each region to add their own individual flavor to the event.
I think limiting the number of multi regional events would make them accessible to more people and a little easier to plan.
A schedule could be something like this -
Yr.1 - Area 1 and Area 2
Yr.2 - Area 3 and Area 4
Yr.3 National meet

I think this would allow folks both financially and time wise to make more of the larger GTGs. Let's face it not everyone has the funds (we are all paying for AVs remember) or tons of vacation time to spread around. Throw in the local GTGs and everything can get stretched thin. I think limiting the larger events would allow for more local GTGs, (these may be the most important, without strong locals tere would be no nationals). Plus with all GTGs posted on the site, the people with unlimited funds and time could still travel wherever and whenever to meet fellow AVers, at local events outside their area.
Okay that was more like my $1.02, but I hope this will spur some discussion. I would be willing to help in anyway possible thanks. All i can say after typing all this is WHEW!

Thanks for your input.....like you said WHEW!! ;D There are several regions and regional meets. As for a national event....that may be in the works as well. We are just in the very begining stages of planning the ECRM II and the work is just starting. Hopefully we will have as good a turnout as we did for the first one!

Keep watching for new info!!

Thx again!!

If Atlantic City is getting mentioned, then how about Ocean City, Maryland? The city is always looking for groups to do stuff during the offseason (Sept - May) In fact after this summer, they are probably looking for groups to bring people to town anytime....

There is a decent nitelife, golfing, minor league baseball, beach driving just into Delaware, and its nicer and cleaner than VA Beach and already a popular resort with most of PA, DE, MD, VA, NY. If you go to www.mapquest.com, get directions to Zip 21842.

interested in hearing the replies to this....

I really don't care where you have it, I will be there. (y) I just hope ther is only 1 so I don't have to pick which one to attend! :p

There will be only one ECRM II and we will work more on that project after the Savannah GTG is over. So far we have gotten it down to a couple of spots. More to come on location and dates after the Savannah GTG!! C U There!!

Wiki,
Is there an approx date yet on the 2004 East Regional meet? Thanks, SHAY :B:
Probably around June 11 & 12, but I am waiting till after the Savannah GTG to talk with Gandolphxx. Just need some advice from him in person before I go further with ECRM II. ;)

I'm sure someone has thought about this b4 but didn't see it mentioned previously:

With Nat. AV-MIXR in Memphis at the end March (tenatively) and this one following just 3 months behind (again, tenatively)- will the 2 be competing w/ each other? I personally would like to try and attend both but being that they are so close together it may be difficult for some who will be driving a long distance.

Also that could affect choice of location. If we get our targeted 125 AVs in Memphis, I think those that attend from the EC region would want a different location (ie. not TN). Not that there's anything wrong with TN of course, just 2 large events there (3 if you count '03 ECR) so close together.

Jus' sumpin to thunk about

I am hoping since they are 3 months apart I can make both!
AV-MIXR is a one day drive for me, ECR might be a 2 day-er depending on where it is. I know it's farther for those die-hards in Texas (Kim! ;)) but to me, the road trip is 1/2 the fun. Especially when your in good AV company!

Myrtle Beach would get my vote. My family loves it there & it wouldn't take much to convince them to make that our vacation spot.

Well, I kinda dropped the ball on this one. :-[ I am putting all my efforts into THE GRANDSTRAND GTG . I am not saying that this is the East Coast Regionals, nor do I want it to be mistaken for that. :2: If someone wants to plan an ECRM II feel free to do it. ;D I am just putting all my energy into the Myrtle Beach trip, and want it to be a sucess. >:D I would love to see EVERYONE there!!! >:D >:D (y) (y) This event will be offered to ALL WHO OWN AV's. So there will be people from other clubs, non members of clubs, locals from the area, and probably even GM employees who own AV's!!! For that reason I am just calling it "THE GRANDSTRAND GTG"!

Hope everyone who expressed intrest in this thread will consider showing up. It will be a blast!!
