Does anyone know how I can identify a JL Audio sub? Here's the deal...

In 1996 I bought a JL 10" sub that was prefabricated in a box. There was no problem as I just put the box in my trunk and away I went. Now that I've sold my car and have my AV, I'm trying to figure out how I can use it. I've removed the sub from the box and all the original markings are there but I don't see any part or model number. I'm trying to figure out what model it is so that I can start designing a box for the AV. If anyone has any idea how I can do this, please let me know.

Thanks

You bought it in '96.......was the prefab box that it came loaded in produced by JL as well?

I'm on my way to a local shop to drop off my wifes car so they can finish the alarm work. If they can't identify it, I'll post some pictures of it when I get back.

All of the original markings are on it but I don't see a model number or a power rating.

I'm not sure if the box was made by JL or not. When I bought it, it was already put together.

The stereo shop said their best guess is a 10w0. Here's a few pics if anyone can verify...

Judging by the depth and magnet size, I say it's a W0 as well. I know the w0's are around 5.25 inches deep, so that would certainly point to it as the sub in question.

I'd bet you may be able to build an enclosure to put it under the rear seat, as it's not too deep of a woofer.

I've looked at the JL site and it says there isn't a stealth box avaliable for my AV. For the 2002, it says it's coming soon. I'd like to get a little more info on the stealth. It may save me the time of trying to make a box to fit under the seat. If I can get a stealth box, it would save me from having to move my dvd changer and my amp that are under the back seat now.

bandit,
The JL Stealthbox is indeed available for the 02 Av, with no problems with installation. We're talking about the center console box here. The 03-up center console box had issues with installation due to poor fitment, but the 02 has no such problems. The console SB sounds excellent, and house a single 10" sub. It does, obviously, cut down on console space, but what's more important, good clean low end or junk storage? ;)

PM Enkeiavalanche regarding the box, he's a JL dealer that will take care of you. If your handy with tools, the install itself is a decent DIY project. If not, you'll want a local JL dealer to handle it for you.
