bought an 05 avalanch a few weeks ago and was checking fluids. the fill hole bolt on the transfer case had to have been put in with an impact wrench. could not remove it even with a cheater bar. took the shoulders right off that aluminum bolt real good. have put alot of thought into this and came up with this....drill and tap the drain plug with a small diameter bolt so i can slip a rubber hose in and pump 2 quarts of fluid in the case.....is there a better way with maybe a special wrench to remove the round bolt which would be good?? have not looked any where for any ideas. just remembered an old oilpan plug which had a smaller plug in it. thanks for any and all answers...dpg ps. the drain plug was not screwed in as deep and came out

What size socket were you using?

Is there enough room to weld a socket to the fill plug? Preferably a socket that's almost too small and you have to lightly hammer it on? Keep applying penetrating oil in the mean time...

Edit: Is there a speed sensor that can be removed and used as the fill hole?

got home the other day, rolled under the truck and found a sensor on top of the transfer case and took it out. pumped 2 qts of fluid in and it worked great. great idea...thank you again dg
