I have a 2002 Z71 and I am starting to notice that the trans is slipping a little. This only happens once in a while so it is hard to pinpoint.
I have about 37000 on her, so I am past my warranty.
Also, I heard some weird noise when the 4x4 is on and I make a turn. The best way to describe it is that it sounds like it is binding somehow.
Lastly, back to the trans, sometimes when I slow down from a high rate of speed, 40mph or higher, it seems like the trans is still going and I hear this type of "thunk".
Be nice to the newbie, but please help.

Welcome to the club....

have you read all the threads in this section about problems with Tranny, 4x4 & noises....

I bet your answer is in one of them......plus you may find more info by looking in them which you did not relize was associated with your problem....

Good luck and happy AVYing

954john,

I can't help you with the transmission slipping and thunking, but...

If you are in 4X4 and on a surface that provides good traction (dry pavement) then you are putting things in a bind.

There is a thread here somewhere in the forums which went into this in great detail.
I found it. Click here.

Let your dealer know about this right away! Believe it or not, sometimes a dealer can get it fixed when it is a little past the warranty. It just depennds on your dealer and if he is willing to help or not. If you ever talked to the dealer about the slip when it was in warranty then I am sure they will try to help.

Thanks for answering the 4X4 questions and I will see if I can get to my dealer anytime soon to have them look at the trans.
