That's right, the endless time encapsulated in a flying cylinder of aluminum and steel is rapidly approaching.  We fly to Maui on Thursday.  A week later we fly over to Oahu.  On that Friday, we are planning a Pearl Harbor visit.  Now, my intent is to make it educational for my son and I'd like to do it in the following order (reasons also listed):

Begin with the Arizona - this is effectively our entry to the war in the Pacific
Move on to the Bowfin - part of the ongoing effort in said war
Finish with the Missouri - the end of the war in the Pacific as the treaty was signed on her decks

Any and all suggestions on how to best arrange getting tickets/tour packages/whatever to accomplish the above is GREATLY appreciated.  If my concept above is flawed in some way, PLEASE let me know.

Also, things we are doing on Maui - Road to Hana; Sugar Cane Train; Kanaapali Luau; Ulalena show; possibly IO Valley/The Needle and possibly the observatory.

We're staying in a condo on Kihei (Maui Kamaole), if there are any suggestions for things in that area or possibly anyone there wanting to meet the mythical me, I'm game.

Thanks in advance for input!

Doug, if you have time you might want to add the Cemetery of the Pacific or Punchbowl as it is otherwise known. It has a great deal of historic value\information also. It's on Oahu.

You order of site visits makes sense to me. There is quite a bit of info at the USS Arizona Memorial.

Many of the tours include the Punchbowl, although they all seem to skip the Bowfin.  The cemetary might be a bit more than I should take an 8 year old to, especially after the Arizona.  That's part of my concern.
