Impala "SS" Logo

what do you guy's think of the Impala "SS" logo? i was thinking of putting them where the "Z-66" logo currently resides. since i am going more for the sporty look, rather than offroad, i thought these would add a nice touch.
they have them in stock in a silver/grey color. think i might try them out. they are not real expensive. about $10. :B:
 
i found them at the local Chevy dealer here in Newport News, Va. Hutchens Chevy. they are the same height as the "Z-66" letters/numbers too. :B:

I like the SS logos, but which ones are you specifically talking about and where are you getting them for $10 bucks. Any pics?

no i do not have any pics, yet. imagine the Impala SS in the mid '90's. think about the logo on the left and right rear quarter panels. remember the logo that was there? it said, "Impala SS" i'm going to take the "SS" portion of that and use it on the AV. and rather than being a raised plastic letter these are stickers like the the ones already on the truck. hence the price. :B:
 
i can say only once did i pull infront of a police officer and stop... as my best friends 2001 black se firebird raced away... hey what are frends for? ;)

i was thinking of a similar idea as far as the SS graphics. being that i have the base model i wanted to give it the sport look also. i've looked at many of the sites on the net and have yet to find any SS vinyl graphics. i even emailed the fellow at streamline suggesting the mountain logo with a SS instead of the Z71 but i havent heard back from him.

hey 02-Z66, was there a chevy part number to that impala logo? did it come in different colors?
 
there was only the one color they had displayed on a board with a bunch of other stickers. i will check for a part number today. i will get back to you some time this afternoon with an answer. :B:
 
Are you going to do any performance mods to back up the "SS" emblems?

as far as performance mods if you look at my sig i have about 2. i was interested in getting some other things like headers. i mentioned this to my friend who did not think it would be a good idea. he felt this way because of what i went through to get the free 6yr/100,000mi extended warranty on my truck from the "cold start" noise i complained about. i have some inside help on alot of things i hear/do/get from Chevy. so i followed the complaint procedures, and got the warranty.
i thought it would be okay as long as the problem did not occur from the mod. i went to the SEMA sight and downloaded the actual law on warranty repairs that states that exact phrase. and many other phrases as well.
he is in the car business, so i thought maybe he has the inside scoop on things. he said they will try their best to get out of paying for anything.
so to save myself from the trouble, and my wife's nagging, i will stick to minor bolt-on performance.
btw, if i remember correctly, the "SS" was not exactly the fastest car on the block bone stock from the dealer. i should know, i almost bought one. then i had the oppurtunity to mod a gentlemens "SS". we did exhaust, electric water pump, cam, headers, 3.73 gears, Hotchkis rear control arms, Blink-Blink turnsignal kit, ram-air hood, and so on... now this thing would move out. talk about burn-outs. >:D but, i guess i wil never see that. i do not have the guts to face the wife, or the repair bills. :B:
 
I've been looking for something to go on my front doors, just above the cladding, but well below the door handles, that would flow toward the back. I've alway admired the checkered flag look and have been looking for something that would resemble this image. Of course, it wouldn't have to the "SS" it could be Z66, but I've always been fond of the "SS" logo too. You may reconize this logo and I make no claim that it's mine, but just that I am borrowing if for viewing and ideas.

that is interesting. i saw that same "SS" logo where i bought mine. for the life of me i can't remember i it had the checkered flag to the left of it though. i will look when i go there tomorrow. i will find out what color it was too. :B:

I must compliment you on your designing skills. That's a good looking logo with a lot of eye appeal. I definitely am looking for something very much like it to add to the side of my AV. I haven't been able to find anything similiar to it, so I may just have to see about getting someone to custom make me one similiar to your logo. Your logo is the most desireable one that I seen yet. Thanks for being understanding about my intentions in the use of your logo.

Here's the text of my original e-mail:

Sorry for delay in responding. We've been really busy with custom orders lately.

Depending on the colors we're matching, some of the vinyl is 3M, some Avery, and there's a couple others. We always use the highest grade vinyl though.

I'll check with my suppliers on the striping configurations of the gray that matches the cladding. I need to make a 4x4 version which is next on my list, but I can do a SS version too.

It will be several days since I'm way behind and playing catch up right now. But I'll let you know when I have something or I'll just post it out on the club web site in the fourms.

the first snow-free day i get i will clean up the AV. then i will put the "SS" logos on. i will post pics. hope it looks good. ???
