As I indicated in another thread, tomorrow I take possession of a 2004 Ford Excursion Limited and I hope to have my 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche sold within one month.

I do not have anything against Chevrolet or my truck in general but enough is enough. It has been in the shop almost as much as it has been on the road and everything is always blamed on aftermarket modifications, even if the systems are unrelated and if I have loads of proof from others and from these forums.

If anyone is interested in a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche with 52,000 km, let me know. I do not imagine anyone here will be interested with what has been said. It does have over 100,000 km and five years of warranty remaining, though.

Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone here know what is happening. I will continue to do all that I can to help out others here and to promote CAFCNA for this region. If anyone has any questions or issues, continue to let me know and I will continue to help in my fullest capacity.

Thanks for all of your help in the past Boar-ral, at times you were the only relolution to many of our problems here.
I hope you have better luck with ford?
Are you still remaining a member here? If not than be sure to drop in every now and then.

Hope you enjoy the grass on the other side of the fence. Is the mileage for the Excursions still in the single digits, or did they stop droping that huge V-10 or whatever it was in there?

The Triton V-10 is still in production. I took one for a test drive and got a whopping 9.3 mpg. The Excursion I bought uses a Powerstroke diesel. It is supposed to range from 13 - 20 mpg, depending on city or highway. I go to pick it up tonight. I still enjoy GM, I just need to move so I can have access to better dealerships. :) Maybe in a few years.

That mileage is much better than an H2. The Excursion has more usable space too. Enjoy your new ride! (y)

I thought that Excursions had been discontinued after 03? I had seriously considered one of them before choosing the AV.

Sorry to hear about your Troubles. As a GM employee this concerns me. However, that being said, I know what you have gone through. I am very displeased with the GM dealerships for service around the area that I work and reside. It is my opinion and current policy....The AV does not go to the Dealer... I feel lucky, but I do believe GM has ONE GREAT PRODUCT here!!! This AV is the FIRST new vehicle I have purchased that is DEFECT free at time of delivery. To date, I still feel this vehicle is DEFECT free but I must say that there are a couple of annoyances.( that being the passenger power fold mirror does not always go back to the programmed position, and rubber seal on the bottom of the box to tailgate sags). As these are very intermittent problems, it is something that does not really bother me, but I definitely will not give to the dealer to make an attempt to correct.. as the past has clearly demonstrated that the problem will only come severely worse if I take it to be fixed under warranty....
I have always thought GM makes Great products, they fall short on Dealership service....
I have had this AV for 9 weeks now, and love it... My 3 1/2 year old daughter is calling it HER TRUCK..... Fortunately I have the keys!!!!!!

Enjoy your new vehicle and again, Sorry to hear that GM has frightened you away...

The Excursion is excrement after this year (sorry, couldn't resist).

Too bad you didn't have better luck with the Avalanche but there are bound to be problems with first year vehicles (all vehicles to some extent). You always hope it's not you but unfortunately it was you (your Av).

We can attest that the vast majority of Avs are terrific vehicles. I wish you luck with your land yacht (you must love huge vehicles, the two largest/heaviest I can think of are the Av and the Excrement).

Hope to see you here posting pics of your FURD >:D

I have driven the Excursion for the past four hours throughout the city and thus far my average city fuel economy is 18 mpg, occasionally rising to 24 mpg. I have been very impressed, especially once the turbo spools up. :)

I do not want to take away from the Avalanche, though. It is still a remarkable truck. It hurts me immensely to sell it and to see it on the street, whereas the Excursion is in my old parking spot. :(

According to what I have read, 2004 is the final production run. I guess I will see. :)

I know of several good GM dealerships. Unfortunately, they are far from where I live. (They are in the city I used to live in, which is much smaller than where I now live.) The larger the city, the worse the service. This makes sense, since they deal more on volume and so a few disgruntled customers do not affect the bottom line much.

My Avalanche was defect-free at the time of delivery, too. (Apart from a small nick on the front-right fender.) Fortunately, so was the Excursion. Regarding problems getting worse after being repaired under warranty, I have observed similar things with my Avalanche. (The emergency brake was repaired four times, the front differential torn down and rebuilt twice.)

I agree. Apart from a few issues with my truck, I have enjoyed the Avalanche immensely. (While it sounds like I had many problems with my truck, it was mainly the same issue that the dealership continuously failed to repair in a satisfactory manner.)

I hope that your truck continues to be trouble-free and enjoyable. Wait until your daughter is old enough to drive! :) I am still single, myself, but I can already foresee the day that I will be cringing at giving my son or daughter the keys. :)

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I still like GM. I just hope that they consider what has just occurred and that they learn from it.

Boar-Ral, wish you all the best and sorry for your troubles with your Av. . as for trouble, every vehicle will have a lemon among them.. Take care!
Thank you. I would still like to get together with you guys someday. Owning an Avalanche is not the only thing bringing us together. We all have a like for trucks in general, and we all have a friendship that has progressed from just that.

Let me know if you guys planning on heading out this way. I will certainly let you know if I head out that way. :)

I understand that a new vehicle will have issues. Unfortunately, the items that began to malfunction on my truck are items that GM has used for years. (The differential and emergency brake are the bigger-ticket items.) This really disappointed me and made me uncomfortable, since my original factory warranty is almost over.

I do like larger vehicles. The Excursion is a lot of fun, and it is funny to hear comments from some people. Someone already thinks I am a pimp. :)

I might post one or two pictures, but that is all. I do not want to take away from the focus of this club and of the forums. :)
