In Dash 6 Disk Changer

I did a search, but didn't find anything that exactly answered my question/s. I have an 03 with the standard AM/FM CD player. I really want the in dash 6 disk changer. Will the in dash 6 disk changer from GM (I think they are all Bose) just plug and play in my truck? It looks like the best price I found on a new one is around $522. That's a little more than I wanted to spend. Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket system similar to this? I know it would be easy to install an after market CD changer, but want something that I can change the disks in while I'm driving and I don't really know where I could mount a changer that is accessible while driving. (I have the 40/20/40 bench seat).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Sam

I'm prety sure it will work....maybe someone who has done it can respond. I am thinking of upgrading to the Caddi Navigation system so I will be selling mine if you are interested. IM me for more info. Oh, and it won't be anywhere near the $522 price you were quoted.

I am not sure but I think the UC6 6 disk changer HU needs the boses amp to work. I think the UC6 is a line output or fixed volume output. Unless you want to maybe spend a grand or 2 to find out I would install a rf diskchanger for a few hundred.

Well IF he needs the amp, I have to replace mine anyway and he can take mine. I'll look into it.

Is this In Dash 6 still available?

You know what is funny but also a little sad; I have had my AV for a little over a month now and I just found out last night that I had a 6 disc cd changer in there. ???

At least it was a nice suprise

Me too - less than one minute total time on the CD player...

What about the amp/sub. Anyone offloading that too!

What is so wrong with the Bose system, that everyone is replacing them with aftermarket??

Everytime I heard it it sounded prety damn good!

The Bose system sounds very good for the NORMAL joe but you have to remember some of these guys and gals are audiophiles!! >:D
I have an '04 with the Bose system and i love it but i will be adding 2 x 10" and a sub amp this month and replace the rest of the speakers oh i would say next year at this time but, i must say i will never replace the HU just to many conviences with the steering wheel controls, rear console audio controls, 6-disks and etc.

I didn't think there was anything wrong with the stock HU. I replaced mine because I wanted the touch-screen DVD/navigation.
