Has anyone put an in dash or dash mounted LCD screen in their Avy yet? I have an 04 Avy with the factory dvd system and I want to hook up a screen in front for the front passenger to watch so she doesn't have to sit in back by her self. Let me know if anyone has done this or if you have any ideas. Thanks

Bluelanche,
We've got several members with screens indash. You'll find everything from visor mounted screens to dash mounts, and places in between. Hopefully everyone will post their installs or links to them if they've already been discussed.

Look up member RoarinRow . He has it and look Kick @ss . I SOOO WANT his set up very cool !!! I did notice he had a problem of Clearance with the Shift lever , Had to pull the level toward the streering wheel to let LCD clear it.

I have 4 screens in my Av. 3 kenwoods and one in the viser. It keeps the whole family happy. (If only I had a family) It is for show.... ;D

I am looking to make something similar to this, but it could be easier to just buy something.. I think someone did a computer install in the same place a long time ago with a similar monitor setup...

This is what I did. I had a buddy willing to make a fiberglass(covered w/ vinyl) panel out of a second console bezel I had bought.
After thinking on it, I decided that I really wanted the ability to put it out of sight. I made a "pin" mount system where the LCD will slide into the bezel cubby when I park in an unsafe place. It works really well and with the monitor this low, the authority's don't know I have a front seat screen that is illegal to use while driving. Of course at night, it's pretty obvious it's on as it is very bright.

Turbo,

I want to do something like that!!! I want to be able to hide it when I need to, and then have it fully accessible when I want to, I mean when my passenger, wants to watch a movie. You just tapped into the dark blue wire from the dvd palyer to the screen?? that was it?? and then ran the new video cable to the new screen?? How did you hook that pin thing up??

enkeiavalanche,

Do you have any pics?? Did you have to use a signal booster??? Did you install yourself?? How much$$$ Last ?, but where did you buy your monitors...on line or a store?? thanks guys for your help.

That would be very sweet to have....let me know if you find someone that can fabricate that. I will talk to a couple of my friends. I will keep you posted on this.

The dk blue wire is in the plug that goes to the factory LCD. Very small so be careful with it. I grounded the shield to the DVD player chassis, as well.

My monitor had a threaded square nut in a slot for attaching it to a pedistol. I made a pin out of a couple metric studs and ground the top one with a notch to hook it in a hole I drilled in the bezel. Works VERY well, it never moves and is easy to remove. When it's put away, the holes are barely noticeable as is the monitor slid into the cubby.

I have a 7" 16X9 Visualogic in the pass visor; works great! I can only see the light of the screen when it's aimed toward the passenger. It hides well too.
I had to remove the vanity mirror but the replacement one clipped on the small visor (from Wal-Mart) runs on batteries and is much brighter.

12 V. distribution amps for the video should be easy to find.
