Hello Hoosiers!!!
Wife and I are looking for a good place to spend a few days in Indiana this summer - we are from the Logansport area and now live in SW Florida.

Looking for either a Lake with cabins, or a Lake with hotels close enough to do some fishing and chill....

any help?

Thanks!

Bob

SWFLA1, I used to live in the Hoosier state too... Marion, to be exact. Anyway, there is a place north of Marion and south of Warsaw (I think the town, if you can call it that, is called Webster). Have a good vacation. (y)

You can rent cabins or houseboats on lake Patoka in southern Indiana. It is fairly free of a lot of development. Lake Monroe near Bloomington is the largest lake in the state I believe and there is a nice hotel with boat docks on the lake. John Mellencamp of Rock and Roll fame has built an estate on the shore of Lake Monroe. Maybe you will catch a sight of him, or his former model wife. Try this web site for info on Indiana lakes and reservoirs: http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/reservoirs/

there's nothing more exciting than Logansport! Just kidding.

If you're willing to meet, let us know your final plans and then we can see about having a GTG while you are in the Hoosier state.

That would be great!!! Nothing locked down as of yet - but to hell with gas prices - we're going!!!

Thanks - i'll keep you posted ;D

A few state parks come to mind. Brookville has some nice cabins. There are many state parks but they fill up fast in the summer! There is a nice chain of lakes up north, Webster area and there are always folks who have cottages there for rent. Indiana Beach is another choice. It is a smaller amusement park that has cabins on a lake. You can find these online and check them out. We would love to put a little GTG for you just let us know a little ahead of time so we can get something together.

HERE YOU GO! Go to THIS WEBSITE and choose Indiana from the drop down list and put in RENTAL --it will search the state for lakefront rentals for you!

Thanks Butch! That's a great website.... We are still on as far as the vacation is concerned - probably in July. I'm familiar with Indiana Beach (sunk a boat there once in my teenage irresponsible days..hehehe) >:D

A GTG would be fun!! As soon as we make a definite itinerary, i'll post it - we have one thing holding us up and are hoping for a resolution next week.

Thanks again Butch!!! (y)

You are LEAVING Florida, and heading to INDIANA, for RECREATION....Repectfully....I just don't get it.

Well, basically, IF I SEE ANOTHER SET OF MICKEY MOUSE EARS I'M GOING :E: :E: :E: :E: :E: :E: :E: :E:

Seriously, it's just an excuse to take a road trip and let my wife visit her mother...that keeps her mother from coming down here >:D

and gives me a chance to fish with old friends... ;D

Just curious. Why Indiana? Something I need to know about in Indiana?

We've got the Brickyard! And, corn............and crappy weather.........and illegal immigrants .................wannabe's and that's about it. :6:. God Indiana sucks!

SWFLA1,
Don't know if it's in the area you want, but I just spent the weekend at the Inn at the Spring Mill State Park. About 90 miles south of Indy. It was a great place to chill out. Indoor/outdoor pools, game room, reading and sitting areas, historical village, lake, cave tours, hiking trails. Has decent food, too.

I grew up next to spring mill state park. No cabins but a nice place to relaxe.
If you like gambling, New Albany near KY has a nice casino and hotel.

Have a good trip!

SWFLA1, Any firm plans yet? We are doing a MIDNIGHT PARADE on July the 3rd. It is in Anderson Indiana and booked as the 1st 4th of July parade in the Country! It is a big deal around here and draws a very large crowd, weather permitting! It is about a 2 hour parade and I have 8 Avalanches signed to be in the parade!

Let us know when you will be arriving in our area and we can put something together!

Looks like we'll be getting up there about the 12th or so... (y)

How long do you think you will be in the area? We were thinking that we might put together an eat-n-greet for the Indy area members sometime in July. Right now there is no definite date.
I was thinking it could become a regular once a month Saturday at noon type low key event.

Travel safely
