Installed Bilstein 5100's

Height may be different with different OD tires (rims do not matter just tire OD) but relative difference at axle would be the same.

So if taller in front with small OD tires then will be taller with bigger OD tires.

But it went in with it taller in the rear.  I wanted it level.  It was an 1" taller in the back.  Now its an 1" taller in the front.  Different tire sizes or not, its still taller in the front when it should be close to level

Ill have to call anyway, my wheel isnt straight anymore either since they did the alignment.  Its turned to the right, and any right curve I take the wheel is turned way more than it used to me.  If I hold the wheel straight, Im slowly veering into the other lane

And the front noise is defintly not normal and wasnt there yesterday.  new shocks or not, its only from the one side, and it sounds like something is loose.  Even going over bumps slow for testing, its there

That is strange.  I wonder if your shop used the highest setting, 1.75" front lift.

You can add a 1" spacer to the rear springs without changing shocks, but of course that is more hassle and cost.

I wouldn't want my front higher than the rear when empty because if you put any sort of weight in the back you'll be very nose-high, I think they call that the "Cali lean".

I told them not to, I even printed out this instructions and said I wanted the 1.18" setting.  To me bringing the front up the recommened inch, wouldnt make the backend go down two inches

Either way, its going back Monday.  The steering wheel isnt right either, and that noise on basically any bump or road imperfection is a noise thats like "I better take my vehcile in" noise

Should my fender wells still be the measuring point.  I sued them pre shock install.  Tire swap aside, the difference in height should still be close to equal

Do you have the same fuel load and stuff in rear as before?

You should have measured from any point on body as long as you measure again after from same point.

Also LEVEL ground

Yes the same, and measured in my garage where I always park.  I took pictures as well of the front and back measurement before I went in and told them the measurements before hand

Unless the mechanic set it higher then it was supposed to be, there are 4 settings.

Fuel load wouldnt matter for the amount I drove yesterday.  And even then, would a full tank compared to an empty tank make the back sink that much?  Ive towed for years, and understand all about weight and people and fuel add to GVRW, but it wont make the rear sink that low.

full tank versus empty is 30 gallons or so max which could be over 200 pounds.

Sit in back seat and see.... but my guess is yeah a little maybe 1/8 or 1/4" on driver side.

Fuel load shouldn't drop it a full 2", but it definitely makes a difference.  I think it's nearly an inch.  If you lean against the rear quarter while you're filling it up, you can literally feel it dropping.

I Wonder which suspension does he have

Z55 Suspension Package, Autoride
Z71 Suspension Package, Off-Road
Z82 Trailering equipment
ZW7 Suspension Package, Premium Smooth Ride

If you have the Z55 or ZW7 you have to replace the rear springs because they are not strong enough.

As far as I know the Z82, as I ordered the truck specifically for towing, with the 4:10 rear end, backup camera and trailer brake control

As embarrasing this is, when the bed was empty, its the same height.  I got so excited when I got home to measure, I forgot I had my summer rims/tires in the back.  So there was probably 250 lbs

Time will tell, it wont be used to tow at all now, the two things I did tow Ive sold.  And while I will be hauling things in my truck, it wont be  a regular thing.  Picking up an appliance, home depot stuff, etc

if I do see that its affecting me, I bite the bullet and pay the bill to get them adjusted again

I do like the level look however, and the ride is very nice

Did this job yesterday.

Strange that the driver side front was a real PITA to remove and install.

Passenger side dropped right out (with only a little issue installing).

old-shocks.jpg

Getting the top and bottom mounts off of the old shock went fine for the driver side but required a sawszall (carbide blade), cut-off air tool and a MAP torch.

In the end (front and rear with 5100) front was raised by 1.75 driver and 1.25 passenger. Rear didn't change.
