Installing DVD Changer

I have just installed a dvd changer under the rear seat in the back, but have a question about the power. I could tap into the power on the radio, but I thought I might pull the power from a new source under the dash. Does it need to be only on when the car is on? If so which wire do I need to tap into? Or will it be bad to tap into the always on power with the cig lighters? Thanks, Tom

My preference would be to find a source of power that is not always on. Radio is on option or find an accessory connection in the fuse box.

Thanks, I would like to tap into the fuse box. How do I do that?

Pop the cover to the fuse box. You can either locate a fuse for an accessory that you think you will be safe with (right size fuze) or use up a free slot. Radio Scrap or other shops will carry what you need to take over one of the slots.

If the power feed to your DVD player already has a built-in fuse or inline fuse, you can simply use your owner's manual and identify a power source that you either don't use much or convenient. I would search for something in that is close to the size of the fuse you DVD player uses.
