Hello all. Been going crazy. I need to find an instrument plug for my 03 Avalanche 1500. The problem is my plug is an 18 wire plug but every plug I see is 16 wire. I been to every junk yard in my area and tore apart every Chevy truck/suv and they all have 16 wires. Anyone k now the part number for an 18 wire cluster plug.

WHy do you need new plug?

And is it truck side or cluster side?

Truck side. The plug that plugs into the cluster. The plug itself has 18 wires that connect to the cluster. I need a new plug because when I push up on the plug that is when everything works. The cluster just has been rebuilt so from taking the plug in and out a lot the connections are off. Tried looking for new pins to rebuild but can’t find them also.

Sounds like you have been looking at 02 clusters for your 03.

nope. my truck is an 03, the 02 has 16 wires, Need 18 wires in the plug. I have been having but troubles getting parts. For example, i had to replace the intermediate cable and was told the part number from the dealer and verify it was 62in. went to the store and got it. part number was correct but it was the 58in cable. Auto store was so confused because everyone they had was 58in. Got the part from dealer same part number and it was 61in.

My hint was to check over at eBay, search avalanche cluster plug. They have a few of them.

Yes. Thank you. I found someone who has one. He laughs when I told him what I was looking for because it’s such an odd piece. For some reason this truck isn’t a normal 03 Avalanche. Maybe it was a special make item. If so it’s the best 1500 I spent. Lol

probably early 2003 which still used a few 2002 things

Need to replace the terminal inserts on my cluster plug. I can not find them on line anywhere. Can anyone help! I have an 03 Avalanche 1500 4wd. I would attach a pic of the terminal plug but its not letting me. Any ideas let me know.

What I done with mine was take the pins out one at a time (because I suffer from CRS), and crimp the square connector down just a tiny bit. When through the whole plug doing this. The connector was a tight fit back into the cluster but it eliminated my problem. My problem was the backlight would go out intermittently, which was all kinds of fun at nite. Hope this helps.
