Instrument Panel Cluster EXTENDED WARRANTY

Probably most have done clusters by now but thought I would throw out the fact that I fixed my dead temperature/temp gauge by touching up the solder joints for gauge on the back of instrument cluster board. Not exactly sure what the issue was but one joint looked very crappy so I got out the iron and made em look pretty again. Took her on a test drive and the gauge works fine now.

I'm kinda disappointed they cut off the warranty at that point (I guess they had to cut it off somewhere) but my '03 Avy now sits more than it moves, and only has just under 73,000 but suddenly the speedo moves kinda like the second hand on a watch. I'll call my dealer, but although I inquired about erratic readings from my temp gauge a long time ago I doubt it'll do any good.  :(

Mine just went out at 8+ years and 85k.  Spoke to Chevy CS and they indicated, as suggested in these posts, that it is mostly the dealers call.  But CS seemed pretty nice about the whole thing.  I expect nothing and will be pleasantly surprised at any other result.

2003 Avalanche, 102,000 miles and my Volt meter needle isn't working.  Have to see how this goes.

My Av had several gages die....including the speedometer that would stop at random speeds....just freeze.  After reading about the problem, purchased a set of stepper motors and light bulbs from an ebay distributor on EBAY (think he was from Texas).  Total cost was around $20 or so.  There was a youtube video showing the replacement that I found....was not that difficult especially if you are not afraid to solder on a printed circuit board.  Sure beat the few hundred dollars that was wanted for an instrument panel replacement.

my speedometer just went to 120+..stuck there..guess that since the 7 yr 70 that was the settlement is over i have to pay now..found a place on line that will redo..thought about taking it somewhere..but after seeing how fairly easy it is to remove the cluster..i will do it myself..been had by the dealer too many times...i recently bought a 2014 silverado..but it is nowhere near what my avalanche is as far comfort and hauling goes..as you cannot open the rear by dropping seats...i chose to keep the av..but just put over 5k into it...now the cluster f.problem..will see how this goes..whats next??

2003 Av 104k miles, took to the dealer for airbag light got it back after paying for a new passenger side airbag and kick panel connectors, now my gear selector lights are out and the volt meter is not working.

Mine was replaced sometime before I bought it (2012). I know this because it is missing some of the features of the 2004 cluster, such as running gas mileage and business trip meter.  Dealer doesn't know how to get it back.
