7 years or 70,000 miles?  Well, I'm out.  74,000 and counting...
You may not be out,  I just had the problem fixed and I have 88,000 on mine. Everything was covered.
Good luck.

To add more data to this..

GM sent me a claim form and I returned the receipt that I got when I purchased my SS cluster and they paid for all of it!

Pretty quick too... about two weeks after sending the completed form in.

Thanks GM. Now if they'd do the same thing on the Gatorback.

That's what this forum is all about!  It has saved me countless hours and $ and I'm glad I could contribute in order to help someone else.  Thanks for keeping us updated.  (y)

Well i recieved my letter about a month ago..stay so busy havent had a chance to take it in yet...it was happen in cold weather..my tac and speed werent working or off by 10miles only on cold morning now its not doing it at all..but it is a recall and it doesnt matter how many miles you have on your AV a recall is a recall... >:D

I would like to personally thank the FINE individual(s) that sued Chevy over this matter.  I was contacted through the mail as being one of the individuals who was declined compensation for replacing the instrument cluster and was now included in the class action lawsuit.  After only a few days after filling out my paperwork, Chevy contacted me and said a check is on the way.  I received a $275 check 2 days later.  SWEET!  Now if I only would have written down the name of the first idiot who declined my original claim......

What if I bought used? I probably won't get a letter. Would I still be able to take it in and have them fix it if it ever happens within the 7/70,000?

That being asked, is there a way I can get on GM's "mailing list" for future letters/recalls etc?

the thing that really pisses me off, my cluster went bad after 81,000 and they will not cover it....i mean WTF

let me ask all of you this, if i pick up a set for the bone yard, will my milage be the same? or will it have the milage from the truck it came from?

You need to have it reprogrammed with the correct mileage.  To do anything else is odometer tampering, a federal offense.

I really wanted the tranny temp gauge so i ordered one from Jason at primepower  (y)
My neighbor works for a dealer and got me all the info on this. I called 1800-630-2438. Told them i had already bought a new cluster, im the 2nd owner and never recieved a letter on this. They asked my milage, vin# and i got the papers in the mail. Just sent them back with receipts so ill see if i get reimburst soon!

I got my instrument cluster replaced on Friday.
Is the DIC part of the new (or rebuilt) cluster.

I now see some of the pixels on the DIC are a lot dimmer then other ones. I didn't notice this problem previously with my old instrument cluster, so I am guessing they are putting in rebuilt ones and I happened to get one that was a lot older then my truck.
It is especially noticeable when you first turn the ignition in when the pixel test is run. It look like burn-in on some of the pixels.

I am thinking of going back to the dealer and asking for another instrument cluster.

Is there a way to replace just the DIC display?
Has anyone else had this problem?

GM called me and said ill have a reimbursement check in a few weeks  (y)  Anyone under 70k should have no problem getting a new cluster with tranny temp gauge! I highly recommend buying it from someone like prime power and installing it your self. You can pick what you want!

Goods news (so far)!  My speedo got erratic then quit on Saturday.  I just called the local dealer here and he said it was covered at no charge.  I am the second owner of a 2003 with about 76k miles on it.  I couldn't be more pleased, even though we shouldn't be having this problem in the first place.  (y).

My temp guage just started acting up. It reads and then it stops. I also just noticed my Hour meter reset back to 0 when I had over 1000 hours on it. I just made an appointment for this week.

Can someone hit me with the main number to GM. I have a oil pressure gauge failure and a eractic Speedo.  hopefully it will not be a issue of $$$$$$    I have 62000 on her now.  Really love the truck and hope this is not a start of failures.
