Instrument Panel Cluster EXTENDED WARRANTY

Sunburst05 said:
Does this apply to the 05s, looked down this evening and my speedo and it is registering about 140mph while sittling still.

I'm pretty sure it covers all years for the avy. I got a letter sent to me for my 03.

Got a appointment with the dealer on Monday, they have to see it to order the part. They did say this has been a reoccurring problem and shouldn't be any problem doing it under warranty.

Mines been stuck @ 80 for 2 yrs now.

Go ahead,....call me lazy

No you should call me  >:D

LOL.....ive been checking out your store.    Ill contact you soon for the 02-06 SS (white & blue needles) (y)

I hate to say it but the blue needles are awfull.  More of a teal and no one has been happy.  I know you have a blue theme, but SS with red needles is real nice.

Will the dealer replace my instrument cluster with the Hummer cluster if I ask them?

Or will they just put in another stock '04 Avalanche one.

How did you make out? Chevy told me not on a 05. I checked the web site and the court order was bumped to Feb 20th.

Dealer said they will replace it, they would have to order it. I just haven't gotten back over there yet as I will have to take time off work to have it done. I got a call last week and said the parts are in now. The speedo was working when I took it in but I had proof that it had been messing up as I took a pic of it and still had it on my digital camera.

I called the customer service and i was told chevy will not cover the 05 on recall. I dont have warranty on my truck it has 63k on it. I just use my gps for a speedo. I think im going to buy the ss white face gauges w/ a trans temp gauge. But that will be after the maxx2 torsion keys.

Well I finally took the truck in yesterday and got the cluster fixed. They said it wasn't covered under factory warranty so they ended doing it on my extended warranty and I had to shell out 100.00 for it. I saw the price if it hadn't been on my extened warranty and it was 452.30 I also had them program the speedo to my summer wheels and tires which are one size larger than my winter ones.

So from what I'm reading 03-04 sub 70k miles are getting covered without issue.

I have an 05 and my speedo died yesterday. I've been reading through and haven't seen anyone with an 05 getting covered by GM.

I never got a letter so it sounds like I'm on my own.

I'm at 69k miles so I'm at least going to call it into my dealership and make a record of it.  :E:

I just got mine replaced yesterday.  I was charged 100.00 because my truck is a 03 with 156000 on it.
I did call around to the different dealership around the St. Louis area and the price was anywhere from the 100 to 800.
Was worth driving the extra 30 mins.
Thanks

The message from GM  isn't just limited to 04 modles. If I remember correctly when I discussed it with the dealer in town, the message covers all models from 2000- present and all full size GM trucks, seeing as GMC's are the same as Chevy's. I am having the same issue with my Avy. It's a 2003 Z71. I have 95K on mine so they won't replace mine for free. If you have 70K or less, they will repair it for free, 70- 80K they will replace the part but you have to pay for labor and programming. Anything over 80K you pay for everything. Thanks for letting me know the issue now. Now I know what to look for. I have a part from the junk yard so I might tear it apart and replace the little doohickie, see if that works.

Thats a bummer! When i bought my AV it had like 65k on it and got lucky the problem showed up befor i hit 70k....I made a appointment and droped it off picked it up the next day and havnt had a problem since!

So what's the average price on a stepper motor, if I want to replace it myself?

have you had any transmission problems with your Avalanche?  ive seen alot of people who have them, complain that once they hit over 70,000 miles, they experience transmission issues?  let me know.  thanks

Well 107,295 miles on my 2003 Avalanche, and the bug has finally hit!  Speedo said I was doing about 140 on the freeway this morning!  Wonderful!
