My next mod will again be electrical in nature and requires adding some auxilliary light switches.

This thread is an attempt at listing all the parts and part numbers (for both GM and aftermarket parts) regarding any modifications to the four-pod housing (two-pod housing for OnStar).

I invite knowledgeable members to reply to the thread with additions or corrections.

Part Numbers:
15756680 - Storage Compartment
15024920 - Mat for Storage Compartment

15040484 - 4 Pod Switch Housing
15040483 - 2 Pod Switch Housing

15734687 - Blank Cover Plates (5 per pack)

15722980 - Aux Lamps Switch (left mount)
00000000 - Rear Parking Assist Switch (left mount)
00000000 - R&D Truck Headlight Override Switch (left mount)
00000000 - JP Customs Rear Parking Assist Switch (left mount)

00000000 - Aux Lamps Switch (right mount)
15052073 - Stabilitrak Switch (right mount)
15036140 - Passenger Air Bag Disable Switch (right mount)

Still need part numbers for 00000000 entries. ?Thanks in advance for any corrections and additions to the list.

the airbag disable switch pn# is 15036140

I confess that I may be the source of the advice of the existence of a right-side of the pod aux switch, but I cannot put my hands on a pn right now

Thanks jackalanche... I know what you mean about an aux lamp switch for the right side. Maybe just use a Stabilitrak switch and create a different bezel/label?

I think I'd like to someday move the cargo lamp control to the four pod housing along with control for rear parking assist, rear facing auxillary lights and front facing auxillary lights.

Wonder if it'd be possible to rewire the existing cargo/fog switch to a headlight override/fog switch?

on the right-side aux switch - I am fairly confident it exists.

on the cargo light switch - you will see that it is combined with the fog light switch into one large unit (Helmet, please confirm my vague recollection as i had it off months ago) and as such, it cannot be moved. Even if you feel strongly about this and want to use an ux switch for it, the cargo light switch is an odd one in that it completes the ground circuit on the cargo lamps, per Helmet's advice to me. Most any lighted swith (oem or aftermarket) does not complete a ground circuit when closed (and it's "on" light is activated) so good luck.

I have my front and rear aux lamp switches stacked on the leftside of the pod right now, I would like to lay my hands on some small white letters so I could insert "front" and "rear" on the switches.

One final question regarding this area - the EXT interior photo shows two switches under the onstar, one is for rear parking assist and the other I cannot tell, and I have not looked at an ext lately. anyone know what it is?

StabiliTrak?

I ordered pn #15040484, the 4 swith housing and was told it could not be had. That was April 9.

Anyone bought that part since then?

The had the blank inserts but I refused them if I couldn't get the housing.

who is this "they"? below from my order history at GMPartsdirect, this is when I got the airbag switch and the four pod housing and covers: (nice that this info is kept for you)

Order Detail:

Quantity-PART NO.-DESCRIPTION-PRICE-EXT. PRICE-TOTAL-

1 15036140 SWITCH $34.97 $34.97 $34.97
Shipped UPS

1 15040484 HOUSING $1.31 $1.31 $1.31
Shipped UPS

1 15734687 COVER ACS $2.23 $11.15 $11.15
Shipped UPS

but they did ask me in a follow-up email about the housing I think, telling me it was a non-US part, just checking to make sure I was not mis-identifying the pn.

"They" is my dealer who shall remain nameless at this point. But thanks Jackalanche for the info.

I'll just order from Dal

Still looking for the part number for a right mount auxillary switch. Anyone? Anyone? Buellor? Buellor?

15729517 - Fog Lamp Switch (Export)($10.93)
15048171 - Fog Lamp Switch (Export)($10.93)

Found these part numbers somewhere. But I don't know which position they get mounted in. Or for that matter, which language they are in.

Oh, so it's just the faceplate that's left or right side oriented? Modifying the faceplate of the switch doesn't seem like such an insurmountable task. Thanks.

Also, just an FYI... GM PN15048171 appears to have been discontinued. Thanks for posting 'em anyway though.

got sent to this ol topic by irontrain (mr. tidy, as we moderators call him ;D ) and I saw Tim's last post - the switches are side-specific too, unless you think having "aux lamps" upside down is a good look >:D

Rockslide...where/how did you get the rightside 'Aux Lamps' switch, as shown in your photo?
Everyone wants to know.

Rockslide modified a left side Aux switch by trimming the left edge of the switch. He used a dremel has he stated. You can see the slightly uneven left edge of the right switch.

Gotcha, thank you. I thought he was referring to the blue rocker switch.
So is the verdict then, that a true right-side aux lamps switch is unavailable...?

this is how I did it, the switch on the right is an export switch, not sure of the part number at this time.

Anyone know if this little panel is the same in the '06 models? Mine arrives in about 2 weeks and I'd like to have the parts ready when it arrives...Going to put the master switch for the light bar there :)

Whats the bottom right switch?
I use the top left for extra driving lights, bottom left for extra fogs, and the bottom right is a momentary switch, it unlocks my tailgate.

here's a picture of the switch before I installed it, it's upside down in this pic

There's six pins coming out of the back of the "aux light" switch.  Just wondering what all of them are for.  I was only expecting three.

Some switches have a dash dimmable backlight. Perhaps that's what the extra lugs are for.
